This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: Jan 5-11

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils split a pair of home games, topping River Falls 81-61 on Wednesday and falling in the final seconds 68-66 to #17 Eau Claire on Saturday. 

AJ Uttech averaged 19 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and shot 54.2 percent from the floor. He scored 13 points and pulled down 7 rebounds in a win over UWRF. Against UWEC, he scored a career-high 25 points (8-15 fg, 53.3%) and pulled down four more rebounds.

Stout will host #11 UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 7:05 p.m. at the Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils will then travel to Whitewater, Wis. on Saturday, Jan. 17 to face the Warhawks at 5:05 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils fell 48-66 on the road at River Falls on Wednesday. Stout return home on Saturday at topped #24 Eau Claire 72-70 in overtime.

Mary Berg played all but four minutes, averaging 14 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals with an assist/turnover ratio of 2.3 in two games for the Blue Devils. In a 72-70 overtime win over Eau Claire, She scored what ended up as the game winning basket with 44 seconds left to give Stout a 72-68 lead.  She made two 3pt FG and had four assists in the 3rd quarter as the Blue Devils outscored UWEC 23-13 to pull within 2 points heading into the 4th quarter. 

The Blue Devils will travel to Stevens Point on Wednesday, Jan. 14, to face the Pointers at Quandt Fieldhouse at 7:05 p.m. Stout will then return home to host UW-Whitewater on Jan. 17. Tip-off from the Johnson Fieldhouse is set for 3:05 p.m.

MEN'S ICE HOCKEY

The Blue Devil hockey team played a couple of road non-conference overtime games over the weekend, topping Augsburg 7-6 and falling 6-5 to Concordia Moorhead.

Maksis Brimanis had four points in three games to open the new year. He had a goal and assist in a overtime win at Augsburg, including the game winner. He had two assists in an overtime loss at Concordia Moorhead, his assist in the 3rd period was part of the Blue Devils four goal effort to send the game to OT. 

The Blue Devils will host RV Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, Jan 16 at 7 p.m. and will welcome #14 St. Olaf on Saturday Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m.. Before the game on Saturday the Blue Devils will host an alumni game at 5 p.m. at the Fanetti Community Center.

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The University of Wisconsin-Stout men's and women's indoor track and field teams will open the 2026 season on Saturday, Jan 17. when they host the Steve Terry Alumni Meet. 

The meet will start at 1 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Sports and Fitness Center on Campus.
