Brynn Hessel was named WIAC Kwik Trip Volleyball Defender of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-7.
Brynn Hessel, a junior from South Range, Wis., totaled 14 blocks in the three matches to open the season for the Blue Devils. Against No. 19-ranked Colby College (Maine), she had three. Then added two against Maine Maritime Academy and nine against Endicott College (Mass.) to help the Blue Devils hand both teams their first losses of the season. She currently leads the conference with 14 blocks in just nine sets played. She is second in the nation with 1.56 blocks a set. Against Endicott, Hessel added seven kills with a .294 hitting percentage.
