LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – The UW-Stout men's golf team turned in a strong showing at The Grand Intercollegiate, finishing fourth in a 20-team field at Grand Geneva Resort – Highlands on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 28-29.
The Blue Devils posted rounds of 294-283—577 (+9), just one stroke behind third-place Aurora (576) and two behind runner-up UW-Eau Claire (575). Dubuque captured the team title at 572 (+4).
Stout's
Cameron Lipinski paced the squad with a top-10 finish, carding 73-69—142 (E) to tie for eighth overall.
Casey Peters was close behind in a tie for 13th at 70-74—144 (+2), while
Ayrton Longe tied for 17th after shooting 74-72—146 (+4).
Andrew Bauer rallied on day two with a 69 to finish tied for 22nd at 147 (+5), and
Connor Lingen rounded out the team scoring with 77-73—150 (+8), good for a tie at 41st.
The Stout B Team also impressed, placing sixth overall with a total of 294-291—585 (+17), finishing ahead of several varsity squads. Leading the way was
Nick Buckman, who tied for 10th individually with 72-71—143 (+1).
Tucker Johnson tied for 17th at 146 (+4), while
Owen Kuepper and
Cole Noreen each tied for 26th and 30th, respectively.
Jack Safranski and
Braden McVane also contributed to the strong finish.
UW-Stout will be back in action on October 20-21 when they travel to Springfield, Ohio to compete at the Jeff Roope Invitational.
