ST. CLOUD/MONTICELLO, Minn. – The UW-Stout men's golf team placed tied for seventh at the Saint John's Spring Invitational, finishing with a two-day total of 590 (+18) at Wapicada Golf Club and Monticello Country Club.
The Blue Devils opened the tournament with one of the better rounds in the field, firing a 290 in the first round before carding a 300 on day two. Stout finished in a tie with Bethel "B" and just six strokes out of a top-five finish in a tightly packed field.
UW-Stout was led by a strong performance from
Cameron Lipinski, who tied for fourth overall with a two-round score of 141 (-2). Lipinski opened with a 68 and followed with a 73 to finish among the top individuals in the 70-player field.
Ayrton Longe also turned in a solid tournament, tying for 22nd with a 147 (+4), highlighted by a one-under 69 in the opening round.
Nick Buckman finished tied for 42nd at 152 (+9), improving by eight strokes on day two with a 72.
Casey Peters added a 153 (+10) to tie for 48th, while
Andrew Bauer rounded out the Blue Devil lineup with a 155 (+12).
Gustavus Adolphus captured the team title at 574 (+2), edging host Saint John's by three strokes.
UW-Stout will compete at the WIAC Triangular in Nekoosa, Wis. at the Lake Arrowhead Pines and Lakes Course on April 29-30
