AURORA, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Stout men's golf team secured an impressive second-place finish at the Aurora Double Gun on Tuesday at Aurora Country Club. The Blue Devils posted a two-round total of 588 (+12) on the par-72, 6,667-yard course, finishing 15 strokes behind host Aurora (573, -3) in a competitive 19-team field.
Stout opened with a 301 (+13) in the first round before rallying with a 287 (-1) in the afternoon session—the second-best team score of the day. The effort placed them ahead of tied third-place finishers Hope College and Aurora B, both at 600 (+24).
Individual competitor
Garret Sigl paced the Blue Devils with a 145 (+1) to secure sixth place overall, carding a 72 (even) and 73 (+1).
Casey Peters tied for seventh at 146 (+2) with rounds of 75 (+3) and 71 (-1).
Cameron Lipinski and
Ayrton Longe each tied for ninth at 147 (+3); Lipinski went 75-72, while Longe's 69 (-3) in the second round was one of the day's top scores.
Andrew Bauer completed the team scoring with a 151 (+7) in a tie for 20th (76-75), and
Owen Kuepper added a 158 (+14; 75-83).
Other Stout individuals included
Nick Buckman (149, +5; T16; 73-76) and
Tucker Johnson (156, +12; T42; 75-81).
The Blue Devils return to action this weekend at the Minnesota Golf Classic, hosted by Bethel University at Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain, Minn. on Sept. 6-7.
