THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: 2025 Season Opener

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Blue Devils launch their 2025 season with an exciting pair of home matches at Nelson Field this weekend. Stout will take on Hamline University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, followed by a clash with Gustavus Adolphus College at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31.

Under the dynamic leadership of first-year head coach Marcos Rodriguez, who transitioned from heading the men's program in 2024, the Blue Devils field a formidable squad. The team returns nine starters and 23 letterwinners, bolstered by the addition of nine talented newcomers, setting the stage for a competitive season in the WIAC.

 

MEN'S SOCCER

The Blue Devils kick off their 2025 season with an exciting road match against Crown College on Friday, August 29, at 4:30 p.m.

Guided by new head coach Cole Schwartz, the Blue Devils are poised to elevate their performance in their second year as a program. The team boasts a dynamic roster, combining seasoned returners with a talented group of newcomers ready to make an impact.

 

TENNIS

The Blue Devils kick off the 2025 season on the road at the Rams Invitational in Mount Vernon, Iowa, competing in three matches over the weekend.

On Saturday, August 30, Stout faces Edgewood University at 12:30 p.m. and Buena Vista University at 4:00 p.m. The team concludes the invitational against host Cornell College on Sunday, August 31, at 9:00 a.m.

With a robust roster of 11 players, one of the deepest in recent years, the Blue Devils are poised to strengthen their program and compete at a high level in the WIAC.

CROSS COUNTRY

The Blue Devils launch their 2025 season at the 23rd Annual Jamie Block Alumni Meet, held at Riverside Park in Menomonie on Saturday, August 29. The women's race begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the men's race at 10:15 a.m.

Guided by veteran head coach Matt Schauff, now in his 19th season and a three-time WIAC Coach of the Year, alongside new assistant coach Parker Huhn, the Blue Devils are primed for a strong showing in the highly competitive WIAC and North Region. Both the men's and women's team features youthful rosters, featuring 20 freshman and 15 sophomores, with a solid mix of upperclassmen. 

MEN'S GOLF

The Blue Devils' "B" team kicks off the 2025 season at the Culver's Edgewood University Classic at Glen Erin Golf Course in Janesville, Wis., with tee times on Friday, August 29, at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 30, at 8:30 a.m. The "A" team opens their season on Tuesday, September 2, at the AU DoubleGun Invitational at Aurora Country Club in Aurora, Ill.

The Blue Devils boast a talented roster, featuring eight freshmen alongside experienced upperclassmen Garret Sigl, Andrew Bauer, Nick Buckman, and Cole Noreen, setting the stage for a competitive start to the season.

WOMEN'S GOLF

The Blue Devils launch their 2025 season at the Falcon Invitational, held at the River Falls Golf Club in River Falls, Wis., with tee times on Saturday, August 30, at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 31, at 7:00 a.m.

Led by standout Julia Imai, a WGCA All-Region honoree, WIAC Champion, and WIAC Golfer and Newcomer of the Year, The team is guided by WIAC Coach of the Year Sophia Connett. Coming off a strong second-place finish at the WIAC Championships, where Brin Neumann placed seventh, the Blue Devils return four seniors and three juniors while welcoming four talented newcomers to the roster, poised for another competitive season and contend for a title.
