BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The UW-Stout men's golf team competed in the largest Division III collegiate golf tournament in the country this past weekend, finishing 10th out of 38 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Invite held at the Weibring and Ironwood Golf Courses in Bloomington and Normal, Illinois. The event featured 228 players, including 34 individual competitors, showcasing top-tier talent from across the nation.
The Blue Devils posted a two-day total of 299-302—601 (+29), securing a top-10 finish in the highly competitive field. Day one saw UW-Stout card a 299 (+11) over the par-72 layout of Weibring Golf Course. Followed by a 302 (+31) at Ironwood Golf Course on day two with a par-71 course.
Leading the charge for UW-Stout was
Dalton Anderson, who finished tied for 18th individually with a score of 73-74—147 (+4). Anderson's steady performance included a 1-over-par 73 on day one, followed by a 3-over-par 74 on day two, placing him among the top 20 players in the field.
Cole Noreen (75-76) and
Casey Peters (74-77) tied for 51st with a 151 (+8).
Andrew Bauer carded 77-75—152 (+9) to tie for 66th.
Cameron Lee (78-77), Hunter Neuman (74-81) and
Trey Reilly (81-74) tied for 109
th with a +12 155.
Nick Buckman added an 79-78—157 (+14), tying for 128th.
Illinois Wesleyan 'B' claimed the team title with a 283-292—575 (+3), edging out Aurora University (294-288—582, +10) by seven strokes.
UW-Stout will look to build on this performance when they head to Decorah, Iowa on Friday and Saturday April 18-19 at the Luther Spring Classic.
