This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: April 14-20

SOFTBALL

The Blue Devils split a doubleheader with UW-Superior, falling 11-4 and wining 8-0 in six innings. 

In her only appearance this week, Anna Blanford pitched a complete game shutout in a 8-0 win over UW-Superior. She scattered five hits and struck out six in the win. 

Stephanie  Kuhn went 3-5 (.600 Batting average) with three runs scored with two doubles and two walks. She had an on base percentage of .714 and a slugging percentage of 1.000.  

Stout will play a doubleheader at UW-River Falls on Wednesday April 16 and UW-Platteville on Saturday April 19. 

BASEBALL

The Blue Devils went 3-3. Sweeping a doubleheader at UW-Rivers Falls and going 1-3 at UW-Stevens Point over the weekend.

Nathan Weckop made two three inning relief appearances this week, totaling 6.0 innings scattering 5 hits, walking two and striking out three and allowing no runs. He earned the save in the win over UW-River Falls. 

Leyten Bowers went 9-24 (.375) in six games this week. He hit two doubles, two triples and a home run for 8 RBI, four walks and two stolen bases. On base pct.: .438; Slugging pct.: .750.  Against River Falls he went 3-5 with 4 runs scored and 4 RBI and was a single short of the cycle. 

The Blue Devils will travel to St. Peter, Minn. for a double header with Gustavus Adolphus on Wednesday April 16. Then Will host a four-game series with UW-Platteville on Friday and Saturday April 18-19 at Wakanda Park.

OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The Blue Devils ran at the UW-Platteville Invite and the Bethel University Invite over the weekend

Jesse Fowler won the Hammer throw at the Bethel Invitational with a throw of 55.19m which ranks 5th in the conference and 26th in the nation.

Lilly Roberts was the top D3 finisher at the Bethel Invitational in the 400H with a time of 62.46.  That time leads the conference, and ranks 11th in the nation.  She also finished 3rd in the 100H with a time of 14.75 which ranks 2nd in the conference and 32nd in the nation.

The Blue Devils return to action next weekend in La Crosse, Wis. at the Phil Esten Challenge The meet will take Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex Thursday and Friday April 17-18.

LACROSSE

The Blue Devils beat Southwestern University 16-12 and fell to No. 17 Colorado College 19-3. 

Mai Nou Vang scored seven goals and two assists for seven points on 9 shots on goal for the two games this week. She totaled 10 draw controls, and two caused turnovers and two ground balls. In the win over Southwestern, She scored five goals, and 2 assists, including two-woman up goals and one shorthanded. She was also 2-3 on free position attempts. 

Emilia Bullock made 18 saves in two games to help Stout go 1-1 on the week, She made nine saves in each game with totaling seven ground balls and caused a turnover. 

Stout will host the College of Saint Benedict on Wednesday, April 16 at 4 p.m. on Nelson Field. Then they will travel to Eau Claire, Wis. for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday April 19 with the Blugolds. 

MEN'S GOLF

After a week off, The Blue Devil men's golf team returns to action at the Luther Spring Classic. 

Stout will travel to Decorah, Iowa on Friday, April 18- Saturday April 19 for the Luther College Spring Classic at the Oneota Golf and Country Club.
