This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: March 10-16

THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: March 3-9

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils hosted the first and second round of the 2025 NCAA DIII women's basketball championship 

Stout topped Ripon College 87-57 in the first round and then beat No. 7 Whitman College 75-69. 

Stout Advances to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season and will travel to Scranton, PA on Friday, March 14 to play UW-Whitewater. The winner will play the winner of Scranton-John Hopkins on Saturday, March 15.

GYMNASTICS

The Blue Devils placed 5th at the WIAC Championships with 191.250. 

Gillian Cummins: Qualified for the all-around competition winning the all-around at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional, Cummins set a new program record with an all-around score of 38.625.
Jamie Beatty qualified in the all-around
Effie Ferguson qualified in both the uneven bars and balance beam.
Isabela Krulich qualified on the floor exercise
Taylar Schaefer will compete at nationals in the vault.
Sarah Lutz qualified on the uneven bars. 

The NCGA National Championships, scheduled for March 22, 2025, at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minn.

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The University of Wisconsin-Stout men's and women's track and field team will send six athletes to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, scheduled for March 14-15, 2025, at the Golisano Training Center in Rochester, N.Y.

BASEBALL

The Blue Devils went 1-2 in the 2025 opening weekend.  Falling 5-4 in 10 innings to Hamline and dropping a 2-0 decision to Coe College. On Sunday, Stout topped host Millikin 5-1. 

Justin Sedin went 4-10 with three RBI and a run scored. He drew a walk and stole a base. 

Nick Van Beek pitched four scoreless innings allowing one hit and striking out 2 to earn the save against Millikin. 

Luke Carrier pitched 4.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out 7 against Coe College. 

The Blue Devils will head to Pensacola, Fla. To play in the Blue Wahoos Challenge. Stout will play 7 games March 15-18. 

SOFTBALL

The UW-Stout softball team dropped four games over the weeked. 

Stephanie Khun went 7-12 with 5 RBI two doubles, two walks and three runs scored. 

 The Blue Devils will travel to Elizabethtown, Ky. to play four games in the Pioneer Classic March 15-16. 

LACROSSE

The Blue Devils opened the 2025 season with the programs first home win, a 12-11 triumph over MOSE. 

Mai Nou Vang led the Blue Devils offensively. She scored three goals and added an assist for four points. She had three draw controls, three ground balls and a cause turnover. 

Playing in her first collegiate game, Emilia Bullock backstopped the Blue Devils to a season opening win. She made 18 saves (tied for second most in school history) Including making several saves (one a free position shot) in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win. She also had six ground balls. 

Stout will host Beloit College on Monday, March 10 at 4 p.m. The Blue Devils will then travel to Marian University on Saturday, March 15 for a 1 p.m. game.
