This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: Feb. 24-March 2

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils topped No. 11 UW-Oshkosh 72-63 and will be the 2-seed in the upcoming WIAC Tournament.   

Raegan Sorensen averaged 28.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals while shooting 62.9 (22-35) percent from the field. The WIAC leader in FG% shot 61.9 percent to score 33 points on the road at Stevens Point. She then shot 64.3 percent to score 24 points and seven rebounds to lead Stout to a win over #11 Oshkosh. 

The Blue Devils will face the highest remaining seed on Thursday, Feb. 27 in the WIAC Semifinals. Tio-off from the Johnson Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.

GYMNASTICS

The Blue Devils won a tri-meet with No. 1 UW-Oshkosh and Winona State with a school record 191.900. Stout also set a school record on the uneven bars with a 48.700.

Gillian Cummins won the all-around with a season-high 38.000 in a tri-meet with Winona State and UW-Oshkosh. She scored a season-high 9.625 on the vault. Tied a career-high on the bars with a 9.625. Scored a 9.250 on the balance beam and scored a 9.500 on the floor.

Emma Brittingham set a school record with a 9.825 on the uneven bars in a tri meet with Winona State and UW-Oshkosh. She becomes the first Blue Devil to score over a 9.800 on the apparatus.

The Blue Devils will travel to St. Peter, Minn. for a dual meet with Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, Feb. 28.  

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The Blue Devils competed at the UW-La Crosse Caged Eagle Invitational.  

Brekkyn Lammert was the top collegiate finisher in the mile at the UW-La Crosse Caged Eagle Invite with a school record time of 4:56.73.  That time ranks first in the conference and 11th in the nation.

Aubree Koenings finished second in the weight throw at the UW-La Crosse Caged Eagle Invite with a throw of 17.86m.  That throw ranks fifth in the conference and 12th in the nation.  She also finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.76m which ranks ninth in the conference.

The Blue Devils will travel to Stevens Point, Wis. on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday March 1 to compete at the WIAC Championship in the Skyward Fieldhouse. 

SOFTBALL

The Blue Devils split a double header with (RV) College of St. Benedict. Falling 8-3 and winning 5-4. 

Samantha Bergeon pitched the Blue Devils to a 5-4 win in the second game of the double header. She threw a complete game, giving up seven hits, four runs and three walks while striking out four. 

Stephanie Kuhn went 3-7 with a double, 2 runs scored and an RBI in a double header with (RV) College of St. Benedicts. She hit .429 with a on base % of .500 and a slugging percentage of .571. She was 1-1 in stolen base attempts and had three put outs. She had the winning RBI in the top of the 7th in game two. 

The Blue Devils (2-2) will travel to Rochester, Minn. on Saturday, March 1 to face University of Northwestern (Minn.) and St. Olaf College at the RCTC Dome.
