MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stout gymnastics team put on a strong performance Friday night at Johnson Fieldhouse, defeating Simpson College 189.650-184.975. The Blue Devils saw multiple career-best performances, highlighted by Jamie Beatty and Taylar Schaefer, while also etching their name in the record books with a historic team floor score.
Freshman Jamie Beatty had a night to remember, delivering career-best scores on three events and in the all-around competition. She posted personal records on vault (9.625), uneven bars (9.750), and floor exercise (9.675), with her bars score tying for the second-best in UW-Stout program history. Beatty's all-around total of 38.400 was also a career high, tying for the third-best all-around score in school history.
Sophomore Taylar Schaefer added her own milestone performance, setting a career high on the uneven bars with a 9.425. Schaefer also showcased her consistency across multiple events, scoring a 9.600 on vault and a 9.400 on beam to help secure the team victory.
As a team, UW-Stout delivered a standout effort on floor exercise, earning a 48.175—the seventh-best floor score in program history. Senior Isabela Krulich led the event with a 9.775, claiming the floor title, while Beatty (9.675), Kaylie Kassing (9.575), and Effie Ferguson (9.550) all posted strong scores to round out the lineup.
The Blue Devils also saw standout performances on beam, where Effie Ferguson took the event title with a 9.750, and on vault, where Stout placed five gymnasts in the top six, led by Beatty's 9.625.

UW-Stout will return to Johnson Fieldhouse on Thursday, Feb. 22, to host a WIAC triangular against Winona State and UW-Oshkosh. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m.
