This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: Jan 27-Feb 2

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils extended their wining streak to six games as they close the first half of WIAC play. Stout topped Eau Claire 73-70 and Platteville 74-53.

Lexi Wagner set a school record and tied a WIAC record with 9 made 3-point field goals in a 73-70 win over UW-Eau Claire. She scored a career-high 29 points while grabbing five rebounds and two assists and steal. She shot 64.3 percent from distance over the Blugolds. On the road at Platteville, she helped Stout extend their winning streak to 6 games going 4-6 from beyond the arc for 15 points and three more rebounds. For the week, she was 13-20 from 3-point range (65.0 percent) to average 22 PPG and 4 RPG. 

The Blue Devils will host UW-La Crosse on Wednesday Jan 29. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. in the Johnson Fieldhouse. 

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils dropped both games last week, falling to Eau Claire 81-53 and #1 Platteville 84-54. 

Jacob Walczak led Stout with 14 points over UWEC and was 8-12 for 24 points against Platteville. 

The Blue Devils will travel to La Crosse on Wednesday, Jan 29. Tip-off from Mitchell Hall Gymnasium is set for 7:05 p.m. 

GYMNASTICS

The Blue Devils scored a 189.075 to win a dual meet at Hamline. Stout won all four events highlighted by a 48.275 on the floor exercise.

Taylar Schaefer won the all-around with a personal best score of 37.750. She won the vault with a 9.650 and scored 9.600 on the floor.

Effie Ferguson led the Blue Devils on floor and beam. Her winning score of a 9.800 on the floor tied for the third best score on the floor in Stout history. She also scored a 9.675 to win the balance beam.

The Blue Devils will host UW-Eau Claire on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in the Johnson Fieldhouse. 

ICE HOCKEY

Stout dropped both game to #11 Stevens Point, falling 5-1 and 1-0 in overtime. 

The Blue Devils will travel to Ashland, Wis. on Thursday Jan. 30 and Saturday Feb. 1. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. both nights. 

INDOOR TRACK

The Blue Devils officially opened the 2025 indoor season at the UW-La Crosse Pat Healy Classic.

Karter Rashke won the shot put at the Pat Healy Classic with a throw of 16.85m.  That throw ranks second in the WIAC and fifth in the nation.

Aubree Koenings won the weight throw at the Pat Healy Classic with a throw of 17.67m.  That throw ranks fifth in the WIAC and 10th in the nation.

Stout will host the Warren Bowlus Invite Jan 31- Feb 1.
