THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: Sept. 2-8

MEN'S SOCCER

The Blue Devils started a new era of Blue Devil Athletics, playing the first varsity men's soccer games. Stout fell 2-0 to Hamline and 5-1 to Lakeland. 

Luca Jones scored the first goal in program history to the the match with Lakeland at 1 late in the first half. 

A trio of Blue Devil goalkeepers have split time int he first couple of matches, combining for 16 saves. 

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 4 when they host Northland College. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. at Nelson Field.

VOLLEYBALL

The Blue Devils opened the 2024 season with a pair of wins at the Eagle Classic. 

Stout swept Benedictine in a close match (26-24, 25-23, 25-22). and followed it up with a four set win over MSOE (25-15, 25-21, 13-25, 25-22). 

Brooke McCune led the Blue Devils with 27 kills (3.86 a set) and hit .229, including a career-high 15 kills against MSOE. 

Terrah Moshier averaged 5.86 digs a set, including an impressive 9.0 digs a set (27 total) performance against Benedictine. 

Kennedy Barrett toaled 55 assists (7.86 a set) with 11 kills, five aces and a block. 

The Blue Devils will host St. Catherine on Wednesday, Sept. 4. First serve from Johnson Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.

Stout will then travel to De Pere, Wis. on Sept. 6-7 for three more matches.

WOMEN'S GOLF

The Blue Devils won the Falcon invite by 21 strokes with a two-day scored of 633 (312-321). 

Freshman Julia Imai, playing in her first collegiate match, won by four strokes with a 74-75-149 to finish five over. Sydney Grimm placed second with a nine over 153 (76-77) and Brin Neumann took third with a 76-79-155 11 over par performance.

The Blue Devils will travel to Waverly, Iowa next weekend to compete in the Wartburg Invite on Sept. 7 and 8 at the Prairie Link Golf Course.

MEN'S GOLF

The Blue Devils started 2024 going 1-2 at the Culver's Edgewood Fall Classic. Stout won shooting a 287-286-573. Eight Strokes back, was the Stout “B” team who shot 290-291-581. 

Andrew Bauer picked up his first collegiate win with a one-under 141 (70-71). 

Stout will travel to Maple Plain, Minn. Sept. 7-8, to compete in the Minnesota Golf Classic hosted by Bethel University. 

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Stout opened the season going 0-1-1 on their southern California road trip. The Blue Devils fell 0-6 to host Univ of Redlands and then battled Austin College to a 0-0 draw. 

Goalkeeper Kirsten Silenzi has made 12 saves and earned the shutout vs Austin. Kayla White leads the team with three shots on goal. 

The Blue Devils will have their home opener Sunday, Sept. 8 when they host the College of St. Scholastica. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. on Nelson Field

CROSS COUNTRY

The Blue Devils ran in the 22nd Annual Jamie BLock Alumni Meet over the weekend and will officially open the the 2024 season at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational hosted by St. John's and St. Benedict On Friday Sept. 6.

The race will take place at the Blouder Ridge Golf Course in St. Cloud, Minn.

 The women run at 6 p.m. and the men follow at 6:45

WOMEN'S TENNIS

The Blue Devils opened the season going 1-2 at the Ram's Invitational in Mount Vernon, Iowa. 

Freshman, Lindsay Leuzinger went 2-1 in three matches at the No. 3 and 4 singles position this weekend. She beat Buena Vista's Taylor Fritz 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 and Cornell's Alyssa Flynn 2-6, 6-4, 10-6. She dropped a match to Edgewood's Marissa Light 0-6, 1-6.

The Blue Devils have two matches this week. They will travel to Stevens Point to face the Pointers on Friday, Sept. 6 and return home to host UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m.

The Blue Devil Men's Soccer team played the first ever varisty men's soccer game on Friday, Aug. 30
