ST. PAUL, Minn. - The UW-Stout gymnastics team opened the 2024 season with an impressive win at the Hamline Tri Meet Friday evening. Stout swept all four events to win with a score of 187.225. Gustavus Adolphus was second (179.225) and Hamline was third (178.700).
Stout swept the top-five spots in the vault to win with a score of 47.775.
Taylar Schaefer won with a9.625.
Kiara Brown and
Jessica Qualich tied for second with a 9.600.
Gillian Cummins was fourth (9.550) and
Anna Mielke took fifth with a 9.400.
The Blue Devils won the uneven bars with a score of 44.925. Brown won with a 9.550. Cummins was sixth with a 9.050.
Stout again swept the top four spots in the balance beam with a 47.625.
Ashtyn Gagner won with a 9.700.
Isabela Krulich and
Effie Ferguson tied for second with a 9.625 and
Genevieve Czaplewski was fourth 9.475.
Stout completed the event sweep with a 46.850 in the floor exercise. Krulich won the floor with a 9.675. Mielke tied for second with a 9.650. Qualich was fourth with a 9.575.
Cummins won the all-around, claiming the title with a 36.550.
Stout will be back in action on Sunday, Jan. 21 with they travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. to face NCAA division one opponent Eastern Michigan. The meet is set to start at 1 p.m. and will be available to watch on ESPN+
