UW-Oshkosh 189.475, UW-Stout 187.225
MENOMONIE (January 27, 2023) - UW-Stout overcame one low event score and bounced back to score their second highest team score of the season, but still found themselves on the short end of a 189.475-187.225 decision to UW-Oshkosh in the home opener Friday at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Titans took a very small lead after the first rotation, but Stout had trouble in the second rotation and trailed by nearly three points midway through the night. The Blue Devils battled back to come up short just over two points. The only time Stout scored a higher team scored this season was in their last outing when they tallied a school record 191.550 points at the University of North Carolina.
The Blue Devils did capture three first place individual crowns on Princess and Superhero Night.
Kiara Brown broke 38 points for the third time this season, posting a 38.100 as the only competitor in the all-around event. Brown scored a career-best 38.400 during her last outing.
Brown also captured the top spot on the uneven bars, matching a career-best score of 9.650, and tied with teammate
Effie Ferguson and the Titans' Maddie Bellmore to capture the title on the balance beam with a 9.550.
Senior
Carlie Beatty finished third on the floor exercise and freshman
Jessica Qualich was fourth on the vault with a 9.575. 6)
Isabela Krulich and
Gabrielle Winstead tied for sixth with a 9.425 on the balance beam.
The Blue Devils return to Johnson Fieldhouse Friday, Feb. 3 for the second of three consecutive home matches when they host Hamline University and Winona State University in the John Zuerlein Invitational.
