Rhodes Invitational Results
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 19, 2022) - Less than a week after the conclusion of the indoor season, UW-Stout got the outdoor season underway at the Rhodes (Tenn) Invitational Friday and Saturday in Memphis, Tenn.
Kevin Ruechel, fresh off an indoor shot put title, picked up where he left off and won two events and placed in the top four of three events. Ruechel won shot put with a throw of 57-feet, 9.50-inches and the discus with a mark of 158-1. Ruechel competed in the javelin for the first in his career and finished fourth (169-3). Ruechel also competed in the hammer throw (161-0), finishing ninth.
Hannah Zastrow finished first in the high jump with a mark of 5-3.75 and was second in the 100-hurdles in a time of 14.48 seconds.
Kaylie Raths was fifth in the 100-hurdles (16.18) and
Lexi Cole ninth (16.98).
In the men's mile, Stout placed four runners in the top seven and captured the first three places.
Spencer Schultz won the event in a time of 4-minutes, 21.81-seconds, followed by
Matthew Ryan (4:23.96) in second and
Grant Magnuson (4:27.62) in third.
Lance Pfrimmer finished seventh (4:31.00). Ryan, Schultz, Magnuson and Pfrimmer teamed to win the 4x800-meter relay (7:59.24). The 4x800 team of
Trevor Locke,
Calvin Fiala,
Cale Bishop and Nels Transdahl placed second (8:42.71).
Demi Ploor competed in three events, finishing in the top six in each event. She was second in the shot put (42-9), fourth in the javelin (110-0) and sixth in the hammer throw (172-3).
Payton Schneider was fourth in the discus (121-2).
Brandon Dick was third in the men's high jump (6-2).
Jack Roeber was third in the long jump (22-5) and
Jakes Asembo was eighth (20-3.50).
Jacob Bugella had a pair of top five finishes, placing fourth in the hammer throw (192-10) behind three NCAA Division I performers and fifth in the discus (149-3).
Raegan Sorensen made her UW-Stout track debut, placing third in the pole vault (9-10).
Jenna Driscoll was fourth in the triple jump (35-4) and fifth in the long jump (16-5).
Kehau Phillips was fifth in the triple jump (34-7.50) and 10th in the long jump (15-7).
LaRissa Block was sixth in the long jump (16-3.25).
Driscoll, Raths, Sorensen and Block placed third (52.57) in the 4x400-relay.
Kaden Martin was second in the 110-hurdles (14.95) and eighth in the 200-meter (22.69).
Caleb Green was seventh in the 200 (22.55). Martin and Green were members of the second place 4x400-meter relay (3:25.83), along with
Owen Jelinek and
Brandon Dick.
Noah Beck was fourth in the 110-hurdles (15.52). The 4x100-relay team of
Mackenson Steinberg, Green,
Daniel Nesja and
Jakes Asembo finished third (44.12).
Logan Garski was eighth in the hammer (168-9) and Mitchell Koeckeritz was sixth in the javelin (167-11).
The Blue Devils are scheduled to open their northern outdoor schedule Saturday, April 2 at the Hamline University Invitational. Stout will play host to a series of high school meets over the next two weeks - the Blue Devil High School Invitational, Tuesday, March 22; the Northern Badger Classic, Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26; and the UW-Stout Elite Indoor Meet, Friday, April 1.
