STOUT LAST TIME OUT:
  • The UW-Stout women's basketball team showed off their prowess on the boards as they completed the season sweep of their I-94 rival. Stout out-rebounded UW-Eau Claire, 49-26, and went on to defeat 16th-ranked UW-Eau Claire, 68-60, on Wednesday night at Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils struggled to get going in the first period, only shooting 2 for 14 from the floor. But some quick fouls from the Blugolds (17-6, 8-4 WIAC) got Stout to the line which kept them close. Eau Claire was able to maintain the lead for most of the game, but Stout kept close, and then exploded in the fourth quarter to jump ahead. The Blue Devils outscored Eau Claire 28-12 in the fourth quarter. Stout had three double digit scorers, Raegan Sorensen led the way with 19 points, followed by Anna Mutch with 17, and Amanda Giesen with 10. Sorensen also recorded 10 rebounds, six steals, and four assists. Mutch had four assists and seven rebounds as well. Coming up big for Stout again was Alison Murdoch, who pulled down 10 rebounds, seven of which were offensive and led to more opportunities for Stout. Allison Letcher also heated up late and the game, nailing three three-balls to help the Blue Devil's upset. Letcher finished with nine points. Eau Claire was led by Jessie Ruden, who finished with 25 points. Kylie Mogen also added 14 points for the Blugolds. Stout finished the game shooting 35-percent from the floor (21 for 60) while Eau Claire was 47-percent (26 for 55). Stout had a lot more luck getting to the line and making the free throws, finished 21 for 33 from the line. Eau Claire only shot seven free throws the whole game, making three of them. | Game Story and Stats
  • The Blue Devils swept both games last week to put them within a half-game of second place. Stout took a 75-58 win at UW-Stevens Point, Feb. 2, then earned a hard-fought 58-56 home win over UW-Oshkosh, Feb. 5.
  • UW-Stout recorded their first win at Johnson Fieldhouse over UW-Oshkosh since 2011, and it was another game that went down to the wire. These games have become common for the Blue Devil women and this time it was Lauren Arenz recording a huge block which helped Raegan Sorensen find Lizzy Olsem on the fast break. Olsem connected on a layup which put Stout ahead with eight seconds left. Stout went on to a 58-56 win Saturday.  |  Game Story and Stats
  • Raegan Sorensen scored a double-double and UW-Stout pulled away from UW-Stevens Point in the third period to take a 75-58 win at Berg Gym Feb. 2. Sorensen scored seven points in the third period and Lizzy Olsen, who finished the night with 16 points, added six points in the third as Stout (11-8, 6-3 WIAC) widened their four-point, 32-28, halftime score to 58-46 at the end of the third. The Blue Devils built as much as a 20 point lead late in the game. Sorensen pulled down 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Amanda Giesen added 14 points and seven rebounds as Stout held a 40-34 advantage off the glass. The Pointers were led by Jamie Pfeifer with 14 points. Stout shot 26 of 55 (47.3 percent) from the floor, 5 of 10 (.500) from 3-point range and 18 of 24 (.750) from the line. Stout defeated the Pointers 63-61 Jan. 19 and the win Feb. 2 gives the Blue Devils their first regular season sweep over the Pointers since the 2001-02 season.  | Game Story and Stats
