Hoverman Named First-Team All-WIAC

Meyer named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

MADISON, Wis. – University of Wisconsin Stout's outside hitter Sidney Hoverman was named to the 2022 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Volleyball Team by the league coaches the conference announced Thursday. Staci Meyer was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. 

Hoverman, a 6-0 junior from St. Croix Falls, Wis. led the Blue Devils this fall with 397 kills accounting for nearly a third of Stout's offense.  

"Sidney has been the cornerstone of our offense all year," head coach Ben Staupe said.  "She has not only excelled in that category but established herself as a six-rotation player by improving her serving, serve receive and defense."

Sindey averaged 3.82 kills a set which was second in the conference. She had a career-high 27 kills (one short of the school record) vs Saint Benedict and had five matches with 20+ kills. She recorded double-digit kills in 23 of the 28 matches played with 10 Double-Doubles. She totaled 256 digs, 34 aces and 32 blocks. And had a .198 hitting percentage.

"She has taken on the role of a leader to try and aid this team in continuing to strive for a lasting legacy and a bright future, " Staupe said. "She continues to grow, and we are excited to see what the future holds for her."

Staci Meyer, a senior defensive specialist from Rice, Minn. Was named to the WAIC All-Sportsmanship team.
"Staci is the type of student-athlete who exemplifies sportsmanship every day, and consistently shows leadership on and off the court," Staupe said. "She has had a large part in creating and maintaining a positive culture which we will continue to build on. She is a great volleyball player and an even better person."
