RIVER FALLS, Wis. (October 29, 2025) — The UW-Stout volleyball team couldn't carry over its recent momentum Wednesday night, falling 3-1 (17-25, 21-25, 25-22, 13-25) to UW-River Falls in a WIAC matchup at Don Page Arena.
The Blue Devils (17-8, 2-4 WIAC) battled through a tight third set to stay alive but couldn't sustain the comeback as the Falcons (14-14, 1-5 WIAC) closed out the match behind a balanced offensive effort.
Brooke McCune led Stout with 14 kills and 10 digs, while
Kyra Giffen added 10 kills.
Emma Barton chipped in eight kills, and setter
Lainey Todd handed out 21 assists. Defensively, libero
Kailey Kline tallied 20 digs,
Nadia Marchionda and
Maja Anderson recorded 10 more.
After dropping the first two sets, Stout responded with a strong third frame, hitting .243 as a team and using key kills from McCune and Giffen to edge River Falls, 25-23. The Falcons regrouped in the fourth, limiting Stout to a .000 hitting percentage while closing the match 25-13.
UW-Stout will wrap up its regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1, when it hosts UW-Platteville at Johnson Fieldhouse.
