A LOOK AT THE 2021-22 BLUE DEVILS
- Stout has taken a slight slide, falling in the last three games, but they continue to showcase high scoring and assist numbers. The Blue Devils are averaging 89.9 points and 18.9 assists per game. Both of these numbers are the best in the WIAC. These stats also earn a top spot on the national scale, Stout is 12th in scoring per game and 14th in assists per game.
- Sparking the high-octane UW-Stout offense are Lovell Williams at 19.5 points per game, Armani Tinsley at 14.7, Jon Ciriacks at 11.7, Luke Geiger and Brody Fox at 9.5, and Drew Scott at 8.1. Scott and Fox are the two most efficient scorers in the WIAC, making 69-percent (53 of 77) and 66-percent (56 for 85) from the field, respectively.
- Williams has scored in double digits in 14 of 15 games, with a career-high 31 points against Buena Vista University. Williams has also picked up his scoring with over 20 points in six of the past seven games. But as much as Williams likes to score, he also likes to contribute to his teammates' scoring and is second in the WIAC in assists, averaging 5.7 per game. Williams had a career-best 14 assists against Greenville.
- Tinsley has also started to find the basket this season, breaking double-digits in the past seven games. Tinsley scored a career-high 30 points against Albion earlier this season.
- The 2021-22 Blue Devils broke Stout's single game scoring record which had been held since 1971 (the 1986 team tied the record). Stout defeated the visiting Greenville Panthers, a team known for their high-scoring games, 125-119. Brody Fox connected on two late game free throws to put this Blue Devil team into the record books. The next time out, the Blue Devils scored 108 points in a win over Finlandia.
- The 57 points that Lakeland scored Dec. 6 is the fewest points allowed in a single game by Stout this year and the fewest points allowed in a single game since Dec. 14, 2018, when Stout defeated Finlandia, 69-56, in Hancock, Mich. It's also the fewest points allowed in Johnson Fieldhouse since Jan. 17, 2018, when Stout defeated UW-Eau Claire, 65-51. Stout scored 50 points against Lakeland in the first half, the first time Stout has had a 50 point first half since scoring 51 points against Edgewood College in 2019 at the St. Norbert Tournament. The last time Stout scored 50 or more first half points in Johnson Fieldhouse was in 2018 with a 96-94 win against Silver Lake College.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
- Both Jon Ciriacks and Luke Geiger are making their way up the UW-Stout all-time scoring list. Ciriacks is currently 27th on the list, with 969 points, while Geiger is 32nd with 919 career points. Ciriacks is currently 11th on the 3-point made list with 130 and Geiger is not far behind with 117 treys, ranking 13th. Ciriacks is 23rd on the all-time rebounds list with 449.

- The Blue Devils pulled to within three points late, but were downed by the second-ranked Pioneers. UW-Stout rallied from a 12-point deficit with about five minutes left to play to pull to within three points in the final 93 seconds, but could not find the key to get past second ranked UW-Platteville and the Pioneers defeated the Blue Devils, 93-86, Saturday on Bo Ryan Court.

SCOUTING UW-EAU CLAIRE:
- Brock Voight has been a strong factor for the Blugolds all season, averaging just under 15 points a game and pulling down 7.6 rebounds too. Voight also leads the WIAC with 1.4 blocks per game. Michael Casper has also been a steady hand for the Blugolds, averaging 11.3 points per game. Carter Brooks is the one that has been moving the ball the best for Eau Claire, averaging 2.3 assists per game. For the game against Stout, you should keep an eye on Cade Hall, who leads the WIAC with a 59-percent (16 for 27) three-pointer. Stout has struggled to defend beyond the arc this season, so Eau Claire might try to exploit this with their shooting.
- Eau Claire has also been efficient on not allowing other teams to get rebounds. The Blugolds lead the conference only allowing 30.5 rebounds per game.
THE BLUGOLDS LAST TIME OUT:
- The Blugolds started the second half of their season with a conference loss to UW-Platteville 60-46 on Wednesday and then a close to loss to UW-Whitewater on Saturday.
- Eau Claire returned to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday as they hosted the #2 ranked UW-Platteville Pioneers. Despite a fast start and a six-point lead in the first ten minutes, the Blugolds fell to the Pioneers, 60-46. | Game Story and Stats
- Eau Claire continued their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play at home against the UW-Whitewater Warhawks. Despite a strong first half, the Blugolds were unable to close out the Warhawks and fell 77-72.
WHEN EAU CLAIRE AND STOUT LAST MET:
- Eau Claire got the better of the Blue Devils in both games last year, pulling off a one-point win on February 10, and then a 22-point upset two days later.
- With the exception of just over three minutes, UW-Stout led the entire game, but UW-Eau Claire pulled out the 61-60 win in the final seconds of the game at Johnson Fieldhouse. With Stout leading 60-58 in the final minute, the Blugolds' Carter Brooks drove the lane and dished the pass to Cam Kuepers, who nailed the 3-pointer with about 12 seconds left.
- UW-Stout held a very early lead, but UW-Eau Claire captured the lead and never gave it up as the Blue Devils dropped a 74-52 decision at McPhee Center Friday. The Blue Devils (1-3, 1-3 WIAC) used the 3-ball to their advantage early with Armani Tinsley draining two bombs and Luke Geiger one to give Stout an early four point lead. Two buckets by the Blugolds (2-2, 2-2 WIAC) tied the score at 9-9 and when Eau Claire scored a minute later to make it 11-9, they held onto the lead the rest of the night.
THE SERIES:
- The Blugolds hold a 133-95 advantage in their series with UW-Stout, which began with their first meeting in 1916.
SCOUTING UW-OSHKOSH
- Saturday's (Jan. 15) Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) men's basketball game between UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stout at Johnson Fieldhouse has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
- Per WIAC COVID-19 procedures, the game is deemed a "no contest." The game will not count toward the overall record of either team or for NCAA Division III postseason selection purposes. The teams may attempt to reschedule the game later in the season as a nonconference contest.

Other scorers for the Titans include Eddie Muench (15.2), Hunter Plamann (13.7), and Quinn Steckbauer (10.7). Steckbauer has picked up his scoring in conference games, averaging 16.0 points per game against conference opponents.
- As a team, Oshkosh has proven to be steady on both ends of the court, ranking in the top three of the WIAC of nearly every category. Where they've hurt opponents the most is by taking away the three-ball, only allowing 4.9 threes per game.
THE TITANS LAST TIME OUT:
- The Titans started the New Year with a four-point overtime loss to UW-Whitewater and then bouncing back by defeating UW-River Falls by a large margin.
- Derek Gray had 36 points, seven rebounds and four steals to lead the UW-Whitewater men's basketball team to an 82-78 overtime win over nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh as both teams returned to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday (Jan. 5) in Kolf Sports Center. UW-Whitewater (10-4, 3-0 WIAC) owned a 42-22 lead with 18:20 left in regulation, but UW-Oshkosh roared back to send the game into overtime tied at 62 as the Titans finished the final 11 minutes of the second half on a 24-5 run. UW-Oshkosh (12-2, 2-1 WIAC), ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com, completed its remarkable second half comeback on an Eddie Muench 3-pointer that knotted the score at 62 with 1:27 to go in the second period. Following a Warhawks turnover at the 1:09 mark of the second half, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater both missed a field goal attempt, collected the offensive rebounds and misfired on a free throw on their ensuing possessions to set up the Titans for a final shot with 24 ticks remaining. However, UW-Oshkosh committed a turnover with 3.9 seconds, and UW-Whitewater did not get a shot off before the buzzer at the end of regulation.
- Levi Borchert had a career high-tying 25 points and eight rebounds to lead the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team to an 80-70 victory at UW-River Falls in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup Saturday (Jan. 8). UW-Oshkosh (13-2, 3-1 WIAC), ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com, turned a 22-15 deficit at the 10:15 mark of the first half into a 31-24 lead with 5:15 to go before intermission en route to earning its seventh consecutive win over UW-River Falls. The Titans, who led by as many as 18 points during the second half, did not trail for the final 27:40 of the contest.
WHEN OSHKOSH AND STOUT LAST MET:
- Oshkosh defeated Stout 98-88 in the first round of the WIAC Championship tournament last season
