St. John's Spring Invitational
MONTICELLO, Minn. (April 25, 2021) - A change of scenery benefited the UW-Stout men's golf team as the Blue Devils jumped up three spots on the final day of the St. John's Spring Invitational Sunday at Monticello Golf Club.
As a team, the Blue Devils scored a 307 on Sunday, the fifth-best team score of the day and their second-best team score of the season. The Blue Devils shot a 328 on the first day at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell, Minn., and were mired in 16th place. By shaving off 21 team strokes, Stout jumped to a 13th place finish.
Austin Gaby led Stout for the second day, cutting four strokes for a 73 on Sunday to go with his first day 77 to finish at 150 and a 16th place tie, moving up from 26th place after the first day.
Sam Klobucar and
Zach Strasser also took big leaps. Klobucar scored an 80 on the first day and shot a 75 on Day Two to finish at 155 and in a tie for 36th. Klobucar moved up 17 spots from his first day 53rd place tie. Strasser jumped 15 places to finish in a tie for 62nd, lopping off 10 strokes from his first day score. Strasser scored an 86-76 - 162.
Ansem Nomm took a modest jump, moving up one spot to finish 73rd, scoring 85-83 - 168.
Isaac Larrabee finished 84th (87-87 - 174).Â
The Blue Devils will close the 2020-21 season when they travel to Wild Ridge Golf Club in Eau Claire to play in a triangular with UW-Eau Claire and Edgewood College.
