Blue Devils close out 2021 season by downing UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE (April 1, 2021) - Five of six UW-Stout gymnasts set personal-best performances on the uneven bars and the sixth wasn't far off from a personal-best as the Blue Devils defeated UW-Eau Claire, 184.150-178.850, at McPhee Center to conclude the 2021 season.

The Blue Devils finished the abbreviated schedule at 3-1, matching the top finishes in the conference. On the night, Stout performers hit 20 of 24 routines. 

In her final meet of her collegiate career, senior Olivia Rosenow led the Blue Devils on the uneven bars with a score of 9.425, topping her previous best score of 9.375. Rosenow finished second on the event as the Blue Devils took second through fifth place with personal-best finishes. Kiara Bruening was third (9.225), Kiara Brown was fourth (9.200) and Jenna Jones was fifth (8.750). Genevieve Czaplewski was seventh (8.475), narrowly missing her previous best score of 8.525).

Jensen DeJong finished the night with two personal best scores, finishing second on the vault (9.325) - her only event of the night that wasn't an individual mark, but her highest individual placing on any event this season - tied for third on the floor exercise (9.375) and was 11th on the uneven bars (8.225).

As a team, Stout scored 45.075 on the uneven bars, their second-highest score of the season. Stout's team score of 184.150 was also the second highest team score of the season.

Carlie Beatty took first place on the balance beam with a score of 9.500 and Shadae Boone closed out her career with 9.600 to finish first on the floor exercise.

Czaplewski was third on the balance beam (9.375), Bridgette Allen was fourth (9.350), Kiara Brown was fifth (9.200) and Kailyn Westbrook was sixth (9.175). 

Beatty took a fifth place finish on the vault (9.175) and tied for sixth with teammate Maddie Mullenbackh on the floor exercise (9.325). For Mullenbach, it was her final collegiate meet after competing varsity in every regular season meet throughout her career. 

Brown competed in the all-around for the second consecutive outing and scored a personal-best 36.050 to finish second.
