UW-Stout 181.875, Gustavus Adolphus College 177.050
ST. PETER, Minn. (February 26, 2021) - Fourteen varsity spots were filled by freshmen as UW-Stout opened their season with a 181.875-177.050win over Gustavus Adolphus College Friday.
In the opening rounds, the Blue Devils took four of the five top spots on the vault, three of the top four spots on the uneven bars, the top three spots on the balance beam and two of the top four in the floor exercise.
Freshman all-arounder
Kiara Bruening captured the top spot on the vault with a 9.550. Senior
Maddie Mullenbach tied for third with freshmen
Kiara Brown and
Jensen DeJong with a 9.30.
Senior
Olivia Rosenow led the way on the uneven bars with a 9.35, followed by Bruening in second (9.050). Sophomore
Jenna Jones was fourth with an 8.750.
Sophomore
Carlie Beatty captured the beam with a score of 9.500, Bruening was second with a 9.450 and Genevieve Czapewski third with a 9.425.
Gustavus finished one-two on the floor exercise. Brown was third with a 9.275 and Beatty was fourth with a 9.250. Bruening was first in the all-around with a 36.525.
Stout will be off for two weeks and will return to action Saturday, March 13 when they host UW-Whitewater at 4 p.m.
