  • Stout is out-scoring their opponents, 73.3-69.7 while shooting a league-best 46.1 percent from the field (292 for 634).

AN OVERALL LOOK AT UW-STOUT:

  • Anna Mutch was an honorable mention selection to the All-WIAC team and was named the WIAC newcomer of the year. Anna Mutch opened the season with a bang, recording a double-double in the season opener, tallying 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mutch finished third in the WIAC in rebounds, averaging 7.1 boards. Mutch was 14th in the league in scoring (10.6).

Yaeger led the team in scoring with 10.9 points and was second on the team in rebounds with 5.4.
  • Anna Mutch scored a collegiate-high 14 points in season opener vs. UW-River Falls, Feb. 3 and also scored her first double-double with 12 rebounds against the Falcons. Mutch matched her 14 points against UW-La Crosse, Feb. 17. STOUT LAST TIME OUT:
  • Freshman Raegan Sorensen scored 36 points to lead Stout to an 89-74 win at Aurora University, Dec. 28. This scoring outing was only three points shy of Stout's single-game scoring record set in 1994 by Cindy Hovet. Hovet scored 39 points against UW-Platteville. Sorensen also finished with 11 rebounds, six of which were offensive rebounds. Stout out-rebounded the Spartans 43 to 37. Sorensen did break the school record for most free throws attempted with 18 and was one made free throw shy of tying the school record for free throws made with 13. Andrea Bresette dropped in 14 free throws when she scored 38 points in a win over UW-Superior in 2000. As a team, Stout  shot 49.2-percent from the field (32 for 65) but had an off night from deep going one for 10. Aurora finished with a 40.3-percent field goal percentage (27 for 67) and an 18.2-percent from deep (4 for 22). Stout's bench outscored the Spartan's bench 51-21, which can heavily be contributed to Sorensen who came off the bench for the Blue Devils in today's game. Along with Sorensen, Amanda Giesen and Alison Murdoch both finished with double digit points, Giesen with 13 points and eight rebounds and Murdoch with 10 points in only 12 minutes of action. Sam Schaeffer and Anna Mutch both continue to showcase their passing skills with each dishing off four assists. Schaeffer also recorded three steals. Stout came out of halftime and played a strong third-quarter. In the final 5 minutes of the third, the Blue Devils went on a 15-4 run, extending their lead to 16 (64-48). Stout outscored the Spartans 25-13 throughout the whole third-quarter. |  Game Story and Stats
  • UW-Stout owned most of the first quarter, but that would be it as the Finlandia Lions roared back to hand the Blue Devils a 73-67 upset Tuesday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse.  Stout (5-5) jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first period, opening the game on a 14-4 run over the first four minutes and looked to have things well in hand. The teams traded baskets for next two minutes and the Blue Devils held a 16-8 lead. The Lions (5-6) roared, scored the next eight points to tie the game at 16-16 with 45 seconds left. Raegan Sorensen gave Stout an 18-16 lead at the quarter break. Neither team assumed control throughout much of the second period. Finlandia took a 25-23 lead on a 3-pointer by Bailey Froberg. Haylee Yaeger answered tie the game for Stout. Mariah Austin pushed Finlandia ahead by a bucket, but Stout's Lizzy Olsem erased the lead with two free throws. Maija Rice put Finlandia ahead with 18 seconds left and basket at the buzzer by Olsem tied the game at 29 heading into halftime. With Stout shooting only 33 percent from the floor in the third period and Finlandia shooting at a 64 percent clip in the same time frame, the Lions took as much as a 14 point lead in the quarter and led 55-44 at the end of the period. Stout got as close as three points early in the fourth, going on a 9-2 run, but Finlandia would have the answer again-and-again, building the lead back out to seven points. The Blue Devils had one more push late in the game, cutting the lead to two points, 69-67, with 36 seconds left, but Finlandia scored the final four points of the game for the six point win. Finlandia shot 52.6 percent for the game (30-57) from the floor and hit 4 of 14 3-pointers and 9 of 10 free throws. Stout shot 40.7 percent for the game (24-59), hitting 1 of 8 3-pointers and 18 of 27 from the line. Finlandia's Bailey Froberg led all scorers with 23 points.
