A LOOK AT THE 2021-22 BLUE DEVILS
  • Four Blue Devils are averaging double digits for the season. Lovell Williams with 18.2, Armani Tinsley with 13.6, Jon Ciriacks with 12.2 and Luke Geiger with 11.3.  Drew Scott, Stout's fifth starter, is tossing in 7.8 points per game.  Ciriacks is averaging a team-best 6.0 rebounds and Scott is grabbing 4.0 per contest. TYreese Alexander is averaging 4.4 rebounds, but the senior from Pontiac, Mich., has missed the last four games.  Stout has played the same number of games (nine) this year that they played all of last year in the pandemic season. Scott has far exceeded his point total from last year when he scored 22 points in nine games (2.4 ppg) and this year has 70 total points. As a team, Stout is shooting 46.5 percent (285-613) from the floor, 36.4 percent (94-258) from 3-point range and 70.5 percent (117-166) from the line. As a team, Stout is averaging 86.8 points, the most in the WIAC. Stout is allowing 77.8 points. Stout is also leading the WIAC in assists per game with 18.5.
  • Williams is third in the WIAC in scoring, Tinsley 12th, Ciriacks 14th and Geiger 16th. Ciriacks is 10th in rebounds. Williams is third in the league in assists (4.7 apg), Tinsley is ninth (2.7) and Geiger 11th (2.1).
  • The Blue Devils unleashed 19 3-point baskets made in an 89-80 win at the University of Dubuque, Dec. 8, one 3-point basket made short of the school record of 20 3-pointers in a single game against Crown College in 2011. On the other end of the spectrum, Stout did not get to the free throw line unitl late in the game when Dubuque was forced to foul. Tinsley made both of Stout's free throw opportunities.
  • Williams put together a solid box score line against Dubuque, scoring 24 points with a career-best nine rebounds, five assists and one steal. Williams was 9 of 18 from the floor and drained 6 of 9 3-pointers.
  • Williams has scored in double digits in eight of nine games, has scored more than 20 points three times and scored a career-high 31 points. Tinsley has scored in double digits five times this year, with a season high 30 points. Ciriacks has scored in double digits in six games with a season high of 20 points twice. Geiger has scored in double digits five times this year, with a season-high of 19 points.
  • The Blue Devils have opened the season with seven wins in the first nine games, the first time they have done that since the 2016-17 season when they opened at 7-2 over the first nine games and opened at 11-2 before finishing the season at 13-13.
  • The 57 points that Lakeland scored Dec. 6 is the fewest points allowed in a single game by Stout this year and the fewest points allowed in a single game since Dec. 14, 2018, when Stout defeated Finlandia, 69-56, in Hancock, Mich. It's also the fewest points allowed in Johnson Fieldhouse since Jan. 17, 2018, when Stout defeated UW-Eau Claire, 65-51. Stout scored 50 points against Lakeland in the first half, the first time Stout has had a 50 point first half since scoring 51 points against Edgewood College in 2019 at the St. Norbert Tournament. The last time Stout scored 50 or more first half points in Johnson Fieldhouse was in 2018 with a 96-94 win against Silver Lake College.
  • Williams scored 25 points against Albion University, then beat that the next time out with a 31-point effort, the most individual points scored by a Blue Devil since Luke Geiger scored 31 points Nov. 19, 2019. Jon Ciriacks topped that two weeks later with a 35 point effort. Williams is currently fourth in the WIAC in scoring. But as much as Williams likes to score, he also likes to contribute to his teammates' scoring and is third in the WIAC in assists, averaging 4.4 per game. Williams had a career-best seven assists against Albion.
  • When Stout scored 107 points against Northland College, Nov. 10, it was the first time the Blue Devils cracked 100 points since Nov. 24, 2019, when they downed Finlandia University, 111-73. Stout shot at a 57.7 percent clip against Northland, hitting 41 of 71 shots, their best shooting percentage since hitting 58.7 percent (37-63) Dec. 7, 2017 at Silver Lake College.
  • Stout is out-rebounding their opponents, 40.7-35.2. Stout is out-scoring their opponents, 86.8-77.8.

Ciriacks is currently 11th on the 3-point made list with 119 and Geiger is not far behind with 112 treys, ranking 15th.

  • In limited action last season, Ciriacks, who was injured in the second game and only played in four games, averaged 13.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and continued to step outside to drain 8 of 16 3-pointers. Geiger averaged 10.9 points and hit 14 3-pointers. Scott averaged 16 minutes on the court and pulled down 3.6 rebounds per contest in his first year as a Blue Devil.
  • Point guard Lovell Williams, the WIAC newcomer of the year last season, will be a key cog to the Blue Devils' season.  Williams averaged 12.0 points per contest, shooting 39 of 76 field goals, shooting 51.3 percent, and 18 of 33 3-point shots for a 54.5 percent success range from beyond the arc.

BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT
  • UW-Stout hit a near-school record 3-pointers and went on to down the University of Dubuque, 89-80, Dec. 8 at the Stoltz Sports Center. Led by Lovell Williams' six 3-pointers, the Blue Devils drained 19 shots from beyond the arc - one short of the school record of 20 - and shot 48.7 percent (19-39) from 3-point range. Williams also finished with five assists. Stout used the 3-pointer to pull away just after the midway point of the second half. Leading 61-58 after a Lovell Williams layup at 11:17, the Blue Devils hit five 3-pointers over the next four minutes to jump out to a 14-point, 78-64 lead at 7:28. Stout got two treys from Luke Geiger and single 3-point baskets from Brenden Weis and Kyle Williams and a 3-pointer and a jumper from Lovell Williams to power the run. Dubuque (5-4) managed to cut the lead to single digits, but a field goal and two free throws by Armani Tinsley in the final 1-minute, 29-seconds of the game were enough to keep the Spartans at bay. Stout did the vast majority of their damage from the floor. Stout did not get to the free throw line until Tinsley's two attempts in the waning seconds of the game.  Lovell Williams finished the night with a game-high 24 points, hitting 9 of 18 shots from the floor and 6 of 9 from the 3-point line.
