THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION: The Blue Devils travel to NCAA Division II
Lindenwood University to face the Lions in a dual meet Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m in St. Charles., Mo. The Lions are the top-ranked team in Division II.
A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS
- The Blue Devils are currently fourth in the NCGA with an average score of 186.745. On individual events, Stout is currently ranked first on the balance beam (46.920), fourth on the floor exercise (47.135), third on the vault (47.145) and seventh on the uneven bars (45.545).
- Stout won their first ever WIAC Championship/NCGA Midwest Regional title last season and finished second at the NCGA Championship, their best-ever finish. Shadae Boone returns after winning both the NCGA and WIAC vault titles. Brooke Terry returns after winning the WIAC all-around and the balance beam title. Mikala Bugge returns as the defending WIAC champion on the floor exercise. Boone, Terry, Bugge, and Britney Wolfe return after earning NCGA All-America honors.
- Independent Division III Centenary College from Louisiana is currently ranked No. 1 in Division III with an average score of 188.071. Defending NCGA champion Brockport State is currently first (187.786) in the NCGA, while UW-Oshkosh is second (187.221), UW-Whitewater third (186.745), UW-Stout fourth (186.745), UW-La Crosse fifth (186.288(, Springfield College sixth (185.846), Cortland seventh (185.783), Ursinus eighth (185.185), Ithaca ninth (184.925) and Hamline 10th (182.225). Oshkosh tops the West Region, Whitewater second, Stout third and La Crosse fourth. (Scores are based on average)
- Seven Blue Devils were named to the 2019 NCGA All Championship Team. Shadae Boone was selected for the vault and the floor exercise, Brooke Terry was selected for the balance beam and the vault, Mikala Bugge was selected on the floor exercise and vault, Mallary Dick was selected on the uneven bars, Belle Ihde was selected on the floor exercise and Britney Wolfe was selected on the balance beam.

UW-STOUT LAST TIME OUT:
- The Blue Devils dominated an undermanned Gustavus Adolphus College, 187.125-173.800, Feb. 13. Led by Belle Ihde who captured two first place finishes, UW-Stout swept the top six spots in the vault, the top four in the uneven bars, and the top two spots on both the balance beam and the floor exercise as the Blue Devils rolled over Gustavus Adolphus College, 187.125-173.800. Belle Ihde captured two events, the uneven bars, scoring a 9.450 and the floor exercise where tallied a 9.650. The Blue Devils took the top six spots in vault, led by Shadae Boone with a 9.725. Maddie Mullenbach was second (9.375), Brooke Terry third (9.350), Britney Wolfe fourth (9.325), Ihde fifth (9.300) and Madison Latzke (9.275). Stout was almost as dominant on the uneven bars where Ihde led a cadre of teammates to the top four spot. Boone was second (9.350), Terry third (9.325) and Charli Sizemore scored a collegiate-best 9.250 to finish fourth. Wolfe and Terry finished one-two on the balance beam. Wolf scored a 9.650 and Terry a 9.275. Chloe Beatty tied for fourth with teammate Mullenbach with a 9.200. Carlie Beatty was seventh (9.00) and Sierra Coonts eighth (8.80). Ihde and Terry took the top two spots on the floor exercise. Terry tallied a 9.600. Stout gathered in the fourth through sixth spots. A LOOK AT LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY: The Lindenwood gymnastics team finished with a season-high team score of 194.475 at home on Sunday in a four-team match that included Gustavus Adolphus. The Gusties scored 184.00, more than 10 points better than they did four days earlier at Stout. Ryan Henry finished with Lindenwood's highest score of any event with a 9.825 on the floor, which tied for first among all teams for all events. Lindenwood finished with a team score of 48.625 on the vault for the team's first rotation. Griswold led the team on the vault with a score of 9.800. The second rotation saw the Lions finish with a 48.325 on the bars. Mitchell's score of 9.775 was tops on the team, as Bailey also finished with a 9.700 during this rotation. The Lions' third rotation was on the beam, where they took home a score of 48.750. Three different Lindenwood gymnasts scored a 9.800 on the beam, as Bailey, Chavez and Mitchell all tied for the top spot on the team during this event. The team's final rotation was on the floor, where they amassed a score of 48.775. Henry set a season-high score of 9.825 on the floor with her performance. Following its historic 2019 season, Lindenwood gymnastics is set to begin the 2020 campaign as a nationally-ranked program for the first time in its eight-year history. The Lions earned the 36th and final spot in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Preseason Poll, which was released on Wednesday afternoon. The WCGA poll ranked the nation's top 36 programs across all levels, with Lindenwood being the only NCAA Division II program to earn the distinction of being ranked. Lindenwood had the most successful season in program history in 2019, establishing a new conference record by securing its fifth consecutive MIC Championship and also capturing their third USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championship in the last five years. The Lions set a new program record in 2019 with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 195.400, the highest mark in program history. Based on its RQS, Lindenwood ranked 36th nationally, and became just the third-ever NCAA Division II program to compete in an NCAA Regional. |

Lindenwood: For the Lions in Division II, .Sydney Lopez is fifth in the all-around (38.517) and Ryan Henry is seventh (38.454). Gayla Griswold is second in the vault (9.825), Aleah Leman seventh (9.705) and Kyndall Baze ninth (9.693). Courtney Mitchell is tied for first on the uneven bars (9.775), Mackenzy Chaves is ninth (9.612) and Taylor Colwell is 10th (9.610). Henry is second on the balance beam (9.743), Katie Bailey is tied for fourth (9.718) and Colwell is ninth (9.687). Griswold is sixth on the floor exercise (9.754), Henry is seventh (9.733) and Lopez is 10th (9.717).

UW-STOUT COACH BECKY BEAULIEU:
- Becky Beaulieu is in her 15th season in 2020 as the Blue Devil coach.
- Under Beaulieu's direction, UW-Stout gymnasts have earned 53 All-American awards and Beaulieu has coached national champions on the balance beam in 2008, the floor exercise in 2009, the uneven bars in 2010, the vault and floor exercise in 2011, the floor in 2015 and the vault in 2019. The 2019 team won the WIAC/NCGA Midwest Championship and finished second at the NCGA Championship.
- A UW-Stout gymnast has qualified and competed at the NCAA Division I regionals in 2009 at the University of Iowa, in 2010 at the University of Utah and in 2018 at the University of Minnesota.
- Beaulieu, competing as Becky McDonnell at UW-La Crosse from 1997-2001, captured back-to-back NCGA floor exercise titles in 1998 and 1999. She established a since-eclipsed school floor exercise record score of 9.8. A seven-time NCGA All-American, she also garnered all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors nine times. The Eagles, for which she was a two-year captain, won two NCGA titles during her competing days.
- Beaulieu has been named the WIAC Coach of Year three times - 2011, 2015 and 2019. She was the NCGA West Region Coach of the Year
- In 2012, Beaulieau was selected to the WIAC All-Time Gymnastics Team as the conference celebrated their 100th anniversary.
- Beaulieu was inducted into the UW-La Crosse Wall of Fame in 2016.
- Seth Helland joined the Blue Devil coaching staff in 2019. Helland was the head coach at Brainerd, Minn., High School, before coming to Menomonie.
WIAC AND NCGA: The
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) is made up of eight schools - UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, UW-Whitewater, Hamline University, Gustavus Adolphus College and Winona State University. These eight schools make up the NCGA West Region and are also members of the 14-school
National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA). The six East schools are: SUNY-Brockport, SUNY-Cortland, Ithaca (NY) College, Springfield (Mass) College, Rhode Island College, and Ursinus (Pa) College. Each region holds their own regional meet to determine which teams and individuals will advance to the NCGA Championship. The championship is alternated yearly between the East and the West, with the West hosting the event generally during the odd numbered years.
DOWN THE ROAD: The Blue Devils host the John Zuerlein Invitational, Friday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. UW-Eau Claire, Hamline University and Winona Stats are scheduled to compete.
