THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION: The Blue Devils will host their second of two consecutive home matches when they meet
Gustavus Adolphus College, Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. The meet will also be Senior Night as the Blue Devils recognize seniors

A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS
- The Blue Devils are currently third in the NCGA with an average score of 186.650. On individual events, Stout is currently ranked first on the balance beam (47.069), fifth on the floor exercise (47.081), third on the vault (47.163) and seventh on the uneven bars (45.338).
- Stout won their first ever WIAC Championship/NCGA Midwest Regional title last season and finished second at the NCGA Championship, their best-ever finish. Shadae Boone returns after winning both the NCGA and WIAC vault titles. Brooke Terry returns after winning the WIAC all-around and the balance beam title. Mikala Bugge returns as the defending WIAC champion on the floor exercise. Boone, Terry, Bugge, and Britney Wolfe return after earning NCGA All-America honors.
- Independent Division III Centenary College from Louisiana is currently ranked No. 1 in Division III with an average score of 187.610. Defending NCGA champion Brockport State is currently first (187.450) in the NCGA, while UW-Oshkosh is second (186.900), UW-Stout third (186.650), UW-La Crosse fourth (185.035), Springfield College sixth (185.175), Whitewater seventh(185.580), Ursinus eighth (185.185), Cortland (185.135) and Ithaca College 10th (184.000). Oshkosh tops the West Region, Stout second, La Crosse third and Whitewater fourth. (Scores are based on average)
- Seven Blue Devils were named to the 2019 NCGA All Championship Team. Shadae Boone was selected for the vault and the floor exercise, Brooke Terry was selected for the balance beam and the vault, Mikala Bugge was selected on the floor exercise and vault, Mallary Dick was selected on the uneven bars, Belle Ihde was selected on the floor exercise and Britney Wolfe was selected on the balance beam.

UW-STOUT LAST TIME OUT:
- In a battle of National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) heavyweights, fourth-ranked UW-La Crosse edged third-ranked UW-Stout, 187.825-187.00, Feb. 7 at Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils held a small 93.700-93.225 after the first two rotations, the vault and the uneven bars, but the Eagles outscored the Blue Devils 94.60-92.85 in the third and fourth rotations, the balance beam and the floor exercise. UW-Stout's Shadae Boone won the vault (9.750), and three Blue Devils took the top three places on the uneven bars, with Mallary Dick taking the top spot (9.600), followed by Belle Ihde (9.500), and Boone (9.350), who tied with La Crosse's Madie Vanderpool and Cate Sandvik. Brooke Terry was fifth on the vault (9.475) and Belle Ihde was tied for sixth (9.450). Terry was eighth on the uneven bars (9.00). The Eagles' Oliva Opheim (9.700) and Jessica Ahrens (9.650) finished first and second on the balance beam. La Crosse's Audrey Kaufman (9.575) and Jenna Danninger (9.525) were the top two on the floor exercise. Terry was third on the beam (9.625) and Britney Wolfe was fifth (9.575), Chloe Beatty scored a collegiate-best and tied for seventh (9.325). Terry finished in a tie for third (9.500). A LOOK AT GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS: Gustavus Adolphus competed at the Harley Davidson Meet hosted by UW-Whitewater in Milwaukee, finishing third of three teams with a score of 179.150, Feb. 7. UW-Whitewater won the event with a 188.925, while UW-Oshkosh followed closely behind with a 187.825. Gustavus scored 45.475 on vault, 45.825 on beam, and 45.600 on floor, but struggled on the bars with a 42.250. Annie Corbett had a breakout performance in the beam, finishing second with a score of 9.725, which is the second highest score in program history. The 45.825 on beam was a season high, as Ashley Goeltl also performed well, with a career high score of 9.300. Corbett also led the Gustavus on the vault and floor with scores of 9.475 and 9.325, respectively, and added a bars score of 8.775 to finish second in the all-around competition with a 37.300. Brooke Merila also had a solid day, scoring a 9.275 on the vault, and a 9.300 on the floor. The Gusties will be at Lindenwood University, Sunday, Feb. 16. |

Gustavus Adolphus: For the Gusties, Annie Corbett is ranked eighth on the balance beam (9.535) and fifth in the all-around (36.935). As a team, Gustavus is ranked 13th in Division III and seventh in the NCGA.

BLUE DEVILS AT THE NCGA CHAMPIONSHIP
Stout made their eighth trip to the NCGA Championship as a team in 2019. The Blue Devils qualified to the NCGA national meet in 1984 (4th), 1985 (6th), 1986 (7th), 2001 (7th), 2011 (7th), 2015 (6th), 2017 (5th) and again in 2019 (2nd). Before the second place finish in 2019, Stout's highest finish was fourth in 1984. Stout gymnasts have won seven individual titles, with Naomi DeLara winning four national titles (vault, 2011; balance beam, 2008, 2011, floor exercise, 2009). Kaylee Jondahl won the floor exercise in 2015 and Meghan Hargens won the uneven bars in 2010, the same year she was named the Senior Athlete of the Year.
Shadae Boone won the vault in 2019.
UW-STOUT COACH BECKY BEAULIEU:
- Becky Beaulieu is in her 15th season in 2020 as the Blue Devil coach.
- Under Beaulieu's direction, UW-Stout gymnasts have earned 53 All-American awards and Beaulieu has coached national champions on the balance beam in 2008, the floor exercise in 2009, the uneven bars in 2010, the vault and floor exercise in 2011, the floor in 2015 and the vault in 2019. The 2019 team won the WIAC/NCGA Midwest Championship and finished second at the NCGA Championship.
- A UW-Stout gymnast has qualified and competed at the NCAA Division I regionals in 2009 at the University of Iowa, in 2010 at the University of Utah and in 2018 at the University of Minnesota.
- Beaulieu, competing as Becky McDonnell at UW-La Crosse from 1997-2001, captured back-to-back NCGA floor exercise titles in 1998 and 1999. She established a since-eclipsed school floor exercise record score of 9.8. A seven-time NCGA All-American, she also garnered all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors nine times. The Eagles, for which she was a two-year captain, won two NCGA titles during her competing days.
- Beaulieu has been named the WIAC Coach of Year three times - 2011, 2015 and 2019. She was the NCGA West Region Coach of the Year
- In 2012, Beaulieau was selected to the WIAC All-Time Gymnastics Team as the conference celebrated their 100th anniversary.
- Beaulieu was inducted into the UW-La Crosse Wall of Fame in 2016.
- Seth Helland joined the Blue Devil coaching staff in 2019. Helland was the head coach at Brainerd, Minn., High School, before coming to Menomonie.
WIAC AND NCGA: The
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) is made up of eight schools - UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, UW-Whitewater, Hamline University, Gustavus Adolphus College and Winona State University. These eight schools make up the NCGA West Region and are also members of the 14-school
National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA). The six East schools are: SUNY-Brockport, SUNY-Cortland, Ithaca (NY) College, Springfield (Mass) College, Rhode Island College, and Ursinus (Pa) College. Each region holds their own regional meet to determine which teams and individuals will advance to the NCGA Championship. The championship is alternated yearly between the East and the West, with the West hosting the event generally during the odd numbered years.
DOWN THE ROAD: : The Blue Devils will get a 10-day break between competition before they travel to NCAA Division II Lindenwood University, Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.
