UW-Stout 188.800, UW-Whitewater 187.625
WHITEWATER (February 1, 2020) – UW-Stout took individual honors in all four events and increased their team score for the second consecutive week as the Blue Devils defeated UW-Whitewater, 188.800-187.625 Saturday.
Shadae Boone won the vault (9.750) and
Mallary Dick the uneven bars (9.625).
Brooke Terry and
Carlie Beatty were first and second on the balance beam, scoring 9.675 and 9.550, respectively.
Mikala Bugge shared top honors on the floor exercise with a 9.70. Terry captured the all-around with a score of 38.225.
The Blue Devils demonstrated strength on the first two events of the afternoon, the uneven bars and vault. The top five scorers for Stout on the uneven bars were the individual's top scores so far this season and the all six performers on the vault posted their top score of the season on the event.
As a team, the Blue Devils' posted a season-high 48.025 on the vault and a season-high 46.950 on the even bars. The vault score was only .025 short of the school record.
Terry was third on the vault (9.625), Bugge fourth (9.575),
Belle Ihde tied for fifth (9.550),
Britney Wolfe tied for seventh (9.525) and
Madison Latzke was 10th (9.425).
Dick led Stout on the bars, followed by Terry at fifth (9.400),
Olivia Rosenow sixth (9.375), Ihde seventh (9.30), Bugge eighth (9.250) and Boone 10th (8.550).
Terry and Beatty topped the beam and Beatty's sister, Chloe was sixth (9.325), Wolfe seventh (9.200), Mullenbach 10th (8.650) and Latzke 12th (8.400).
Bugge tied with the Warhawks' Vanessa Olinger on the floor. Boone was sixth (9.575), Terry seventh (9.525),
Carlie Beatty ninth (9.325),
Maddie Mullenbach 10th (9.300) and Ihde 12th (9.925).
Terry took the all-around by one point and scored a 38.225, more than one point better than last time out and more than two points better than the season opener.
Stout will hold their first home meet of the season, Friday, Feb. 7 when they host UW-La Crosse at 6 p.m.
