MENOMONIE (January 18, 2019) - UW-Stout defeated two-time defending national champion UW-Whitewater, 187.575-186.00, in the season opener for both teams Friday at Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Blue Devils set a team school record on the uneven bars, scoring a total of 47.550 when five gymnasts scored 9.30 or better. The previous school record was 47.400 set late in the 2014 season.

Mallary Dick tied with the Warhawks' Blaisee Wilson for first on the event with a 9.700, far surpassing her previous high of 9.40 on the event.
Five Blue Devils scored personal bests on the uneven bars, led by Dick.
Brooke Terry was sixth (9.425),
Belle Ihde seventh (9.400),
Mikala Bugge eighth (9.375) and
Olivia Rosenow, making her first varsity appearance on the uneven bars.
The Warhawks took first individually on the other three events and in the all-around.
The team score of 187.575 was the best season-opening score for the Blue Devils in their 50-plus year history and is eighth on the all-time scoring list. The score is the highest opening score of any DIII school this season. Stout has not outscored Whitewater since Feb. 6, 2009, when they downed the Warhawks, 180.10-179.650.
The Blue Devils recorded four personal-bests on the vault, with Terry and
Shadae Boone tying for second with personal-best marks of 9.550. Freshmen
Britney Wolfe and
Madison Latzke set markers of 9.30 and 9.20, respectively, in their first collegiate meets.
Mikala Bugge was fourth (9.45).
Stout had four finishers in the top six of the balance beam, with Chelsey Gray capturing second with a mark of 9.35, matching Wolfe's score.
Sierra Beaver was fifth (9.225) and Terry was sixth (9.175).
Wolfe, Boone, Bugge and Maddy Mullenbach finished in the top seven of the floor exercise. Wolfe was third with a 9.625. Boone set a personal-best with a fifth placed finish, tying with Bugge at 9.550. Mullenbach was seventh with a 9.525.
Bugge was second in the all-around (37.025) and Terry was third (36.500).
Stout will travel to Denton, Texas, to compete in a quadrangular at Division II Texas Woman's University, Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. The Blue Devils will also face Cententary College and conference rival UW-La Crosse.
