Rhodes College Track and Field Invitational
MEMPHIS, Tenn (March 16, 2018) -Â Just a week after the completion of the indoor season, the UW-Stout men's and women's track and field teams opened the outdoor track and field season by competing at the Rhodes College Track and Field Invitational.
Lydia Meier broke her own hammer throw school record and
Sam Elsner set a personal best in winning the men's hammer throw.
Meier broke the school hammer throw record by more than eight feet in finishing first at the Rhodes College Track and Field Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., in the outdoor track and field opener Friday. Meier threw the hammer 193-feet, 5-inches, breaking the mark of 185-1 she set in 2016.
Kayla Pabst finished sixth (167-3) in the field of 36.
Elsner placed first in the hammer throw with a collegiate-best mark of 195-11, blowing past his previous best of 187-7.50.
Anton Proksch was fifth (168-5) in the field of 34.
Duncan Magerl was 11th with a collegiate-best of 143-4, adding two feet to his previous best.
The two day meet concludes Saturday.

- Lydia Meier broke the school hammer throw record by more than eight feet in finishing first (193-5).. Kayla Pabst finished sixth (167-3) in the field of 36. Kami Sawtelle finished 20th (132-10) in her first collegiate outdoor meet.
- Stephanie Pladies took her first shot at the javelin, finishing 28th (89-9).Â

- Sam Elsner placed first in the hammer throw with a collegiate-best mark of 195-11, blowing past his previous best of 187-7.50. Anton Proksch was fifth (168-5) in the field of 34. Duncan Magerl was 11th with a collegiate-best of 143-4, adding two feet to his previous best. In their first collegiate hammer throws, Kevin Ruechel was 16th (127-0) and Jacob Bugella was 18th (124-0).Â
- Josh Freyholtz was 16th in the javelin (148-9). Walker Olson and Parker Rongstad, who did not compete during the indoor season, placed 17th (147-3) and 32nd (127-5), respectively. Magerl was 35th (123-11), Noah Zastrow was 41st (118-3) and Brenden Buryska 44th (108-1).
