  • Stout was picked to finish eighth in the WIAC in a preseason poll conducted by league coaches and sports information directors.
  • Team captains for the 2018-19 season are seniors John Keefe and Zach Dahl and sophomore Jon Ciriacks.

  • Ciriacks came off the bench in 19 games during his freshman season to average 4.2 points per contest and 2.2 rebounds.
  • Keefe returns for his super senior season. The Blue Devils' leading scorer from the 2016-17 season made it less than two minutes into last season when he was injured in the season opener and was lost for the entire season. Keefe was injured when he laid in his only basket of the season. During the 2016-17 season, Keefe scored in double figures in 19 of 26 games, and scored a career-high 32 against former WIAC foe UW-Superior in November. Keefe dished off at least two assists in every game and had four or more assists in 16 games. Keefe led Stout in all major categories, including points per game (15.0), rebounds/game (6.2), assists/game (4.6), steals/game (1.5), and minutes/game (35.5). Keefe was fifth in the WIAC in points, fourth in rebounds and first in assists and minutes/game. BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT
  • John Keefe hit a 3-pointer with 8.8 seconds remaining in the game to lift UW-Stout to a two-point 96-94 win over a scrappy Silver Lake College Tuesday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils had a comfortable 13-point, 56-43, halftime, but Silver Lake (2-10) came out of the locker room sizzling, hitting their first five shots from the floor and six of their first seven shots to cut into the Stout lead to 60-56 less than four minutes into the half. The Lakers kept up the torrid pace, hitting 10 of 11 shots over the first eight minutes and took a 69-68 lead at 12:26.  Behind the shooting of Byron Dean, Jr, who scored 17 of his game-high 30 points in the second half, the Lakers built as much as a six point lead halfway through the second half. After Stout tied the game at 78 with eight minutes remaining, the lead changed hands eight times and was tied twice.
  • Last week, the Blue Devils lost, 88-83, at Bethany Lutheran College, Nov. 27, then lost 94-82 at the University of Northwestern, Nov. 30.
  • John Keefe scored 25 of his game-high 27 points in the second half, but it wouldn't be enough as UW-Stout could never get a lead over host Bethany Lutheran College and the Blue Devils dropped an 88-83 decision Nov. 27. Keefe was limited to two points in the first half as Bethany Lutheran built as much as an 11 point lead with about 90 seconds remaining in the first half and the Vikings took a seven point, 41-34, lead into the locker room. For most of the early part of the second half, the Vikings generally held between a five and nine point lead.  Keefe led all scorers with 27 points, hitting 10 of 20 shots, and now has 971 career points. Dahl added 11 points and Kyle Williams also chipped in 11 points, a Stout best for the junior college transfer. | Game Story and Statistics
  • UW-Stout's John Keefe passed the 1000 career point mark by scoring a game-high 32 points but it wasn't enough for a win as the Blue Devils lost, 94-82, at the University of Northwestern Nov. 30. Keefe came into the game needing 29 points and he went from downtown to get 21 of his points, draining 7 of 11 long range bombs. Overall, Keefe was 11 of 22 from the field and slipped in three free throws. | Game Story and Statistics

THE STORM THE LAST TIME OUT
  • Crown successfully avenged their 2018 playoff loss to UM-Morris on Wednesday, as they opened their conference season besting the Cougars 96-78, winning their third straight game, and their third straight game of scoring 95 points or more. Crown was up only a single point 71-70 with eight minutes remaining but played stifling defense during that last stretch, ending the game on a 25-8 run.  The Storm had three players that cracked 20 points in the contest, with junior forward Timothy Wendel the high-point man. Wendel scored 24 points on 9/17 shooting from the field, including making 40% of his three-point attempts. Wendel had a great day in all facets of the game, with 11 rebounds (six offensive), four assists, four steals, and a block. Sophomore forward Christian Moore had a strong first half that led him to 22 (10/14) points in the game, and senior guard Keegan Oyugi scored 20 (9/14) points. Moore added seven rebounds as he started his first game of the 18-19 season, and Oyugi passed for seven assists in the contest.
  • Crown won their second straight game on Dec. 1 afternoon as they bested Trinity Bible College 121-85. Sophomore Christian Moore was the high-point man, with 21 points in the contest and a single rebound away from a double-double. Josh Volness and Keegan Oyugi led the Storm with four assists each. Crown had five players score 14 points or more, with Volness (15), Mychael Kimbrough (15), Timothy Wendel(15), and Torry Ledin (14) joining Moore. Kimbrough scored on incredible efficiency as he went 5/6 from the field and a perfect 4/4 from downtown. Crown shot an impressive 51.2% from the field, and an even more impressive 51.7% from behind the arc while holding the Lions to 36.9% from the field and 25% from range. The Storm defeated Faith Baptist, 99-52, the night before. The Storm are scheduled to host UM-Morris, Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the UMAC opener. | Game Story and Statistics

THE LAST TIME STOUT AND CROWN MET
  • Playing without their leading scorer for almost the entire game, UW-Stout found a way to win the season opener, downing Crown College, 79-75, Nov. 15, 2017, at Johnson Fieldhouse. John Keefe, who led the team in scoring last season had Stout's first four points of the game, was injured and left the game with just over a minute off the clock and went on to miss the entire season. Stout never trailed in the second half, but the pesky Storm kept the game close, tying the game or pulling to within one point several times. Stout built a nine-point, 65-59, lead at the midway point of the second half, only to see Crown cut the lead to one point, 69-68, with just over five minutes left. Stout closed out the game on a 10-7 advantage for the four point win. Brandon Emery, a junior college transfer playing in his first Stout game and getting the start, scored 10 of his 17 points in the second half. Emery went 6-of-12 from the floor and connected on all five of his free throw attempts for the night. Emery also led Stout off the glass, pulling down 11 rebounds. Stout is 4-0 against Crown all-time. | Game Story and Statistics
