UW-Stout 189.350, UW-Oshkosh 186.825
MENOMONIE (March 9, 2017) - UW-Stout broke three school records and took individual first place finishes in all four events in defeating UW-Oshkosh, 189.350-186.850, Thursday at Johnson Fieldhouse in the final dual match of the season .
Freshman
MacKenzie Nicholson broke the individual uneven bars record, scoring a 9.775, breaking
Kasondra Tulloch's record of 9.750 set in 2014. Nicholson also won the all-around with a 37.475 mark.
The team balance beam record fell as the team topped out with a 47.300, breaking the former record of 46.975 set in Feb. 2015.
Kenzie Hyde won the event with a personal best mark of 9.725.
Kelly Huseman was second with a 9.650. Nicholson also scored a personal best on the beam with a score of 9.375.Â
As a team, the Blue Devils broke the overall team record with a 189.350, breaking the former record of 188.650 set in February, 2014.
Kaylee Jondahl had a solid night on Senior Night, winning the vault with a score of 9.675 and the floor exercise with a 9.800, the final exercise of the night. By the time Jondahl competed on the floor, the Blue Devils had already broken the overall team record. Jondahl's highest score of the season only added to the Blue Devils' impressive evening.
Huseman's senior night was also pretty darn good. In addition to the second place finish on the beam, she finished third on the bars (9.375) and fourth on the vault (9.525).
As a team, the Blue Devils set or tied eight personal records tonight. In addition to the school record uneven bar record, Nicholson matched personal best record on the vault (9.426) and set a new individual mark on the balance beam (9.375).
Mikala Bugge finished second on the floor, tying a personal record with a 9.70, and
Belle Ihde finished third, matching a personal best with a 9.60.
Brooke Terry was fourth on the vault with a personal best 9.525.
The Blue Devils return to action Friday, March 17 when they compete in the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional at Winona State. Stout will host the 2017 NCGA Championship, March 31-April 1.
