A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS
- Stout's John Keefe now sits at third in the conference in scoring (16.4), third in rebounding (6.6) and first in assists (5.0) per game.
- The Blue Devils have been controlling the ball well, averaging only 10.6 turnovers per contest, just behind UW-La Crosse's 10.5 turnovers/game and is ranked 15th nationally in fewest turnovers.
- Over the first nine conference games, John Lahti has been the team's leading scorer in three games. Lahti is the team's third leading scorer with 9.3 points, but has picked up the pace in league games, averaging 11.6 points.
- Sam Ortmann is averaging 9.0 points.
- Keefe appears in the top 10 of eight different WIAC statistical categories, scoring (3rd), rebounds (3rd, 6.6), assists (1st, 4.95), free throw percentage (7th, 65-77, .844), steals (3rd, 1.65), 3-point shots made (3rd, 2.40), assist/turnover ratio (2nd, 2.83) and minutes played (1st, 35.8).
- Lahti (78-142, .549) and Jacob Nordstrom (59-110, .536) are fifth and seventh, respectively, in WIAC field goal percentage. Nordstrom (0.95) and Lahti (0.75) are fourth and seventh, respectively in blocked shots.Â
- Stout is currently tied for fifth in the WIAC with UW-Stevens Point.
- As a team, Stout is averaging 72.9 points per game and giving up 71.2.

BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT
- Despite shooting a school record 65.4 percent from the field, UW-Stout came up just short, 95-91, against rival No. 25 UW-Eau Claire on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse on Dewey Mintz.
- Stout broke a three year and 17 year old record on the night, the previous being 64.0 percent from the field. John Keefe scored a team high 21 points as five Blue Devils scored in double-digit.
- Hot shooting was the key for both teams. Eau Claire (15-5, 5-4 WIAC) sits in the top five in the country, shooting a regular 52 percent from the field heading into Wednesday night's game. They kept this up, shooting 55.7 percent from the field, and 50 percent from the three point line. Stout succeeded this percentage on both accounts, shooting 65.4 percent (a school record) for the game, and 53.8 percent from the three point line, including two three pointers from Sam Ortmann that would bring the game close in the final seconds.

CAREER BESTS
- The Blue Devils have tallied a number of individual team best scoring this year.
- John Keefe went off for 32 points against Superior
- Cory Speer lit up Buena Vista for 31.
- Sam Ortmann scored a best 14 points against Buena Vista, then topped that with a 16 points effort against Bethany Lutheran.
- Keegan Dickson scored 20 points and Jacob Nordstrom has matched a career high by scoring 10 three times this season.
- Isaac Elliot tallied 19 points against Robert Morris, 17 in the first half.
- John Lahti opened the season with a career-best 17 points against UM-Crookston.
- Sophomore transfer Braden Walbeck ran his career-best up the ladder throughout the season and scored 17 against Dubuque.
- The 95 team points scored by Stout against UW-Superior was the most by a Blue Devil team since downing Bethel University 95-60, to open the 2010-11 season.
- The Blue Devils are ranked fourth in the WIAC in scoring. Stout is third in assists (13.33) and fourth in steals (6.60). Stout has a turnover margin of plus-3.07, and leads the league in assists/turnover ration (1.37).
- Stout is outscoring their opponents, 74.9-69.5.
THE WIAC
- While the WIAC is always competitive, could the WIAC be stronger this year than in the past? If the non-conference records from the last two years have anything to say about it, that could prove true.
- Last season, the eight WIAC teams had a combined 52-36 non-conference record (not counting post season games). This year, the non-conference record is 68-19. Six of the eight schools have an improved record heading into the conference schedule.
- Stevens Point is the only team to have fewer wins than last year, while Oshkosh has matched their record from a year ago at this point.
- In the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, River Falls is ranked at no. 5, followed by Eau Claire at no. 10 and Whitewater rounding out the Top 25 at no. 25.
- In the WIAC preseason poll, Oshkosh was picked to finish first, followed by La Crosse, Whitewater, Eau Claire, River Falls, Stevens Point, Platteville and Stout.

- Eau Claire is 25th in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 and tied for fourth in the WIAC at 4-4.
- Shooting the ball around the 52 percent mark is always a good indicator. This field goal percentage is in the top five in the country, while leading the WIAC.The Blugolds have been shooting the ball well this season, and are ranked second in the country in shooting percentage, hitting 51.9 percent of their shots.George Dieckelman is tossing in 14.1 points and is third in the WIAC in assists, averaging 4.00. Chris Duff is shooting at a .549 rate (84-153). Jared Schneidermann leads the team in rebounds at 6.9 caroms and is second in the league. As a team, the Blugolds are averaging 74.9 points and giving up 66.5.
- Josh Weix leads the Blugolds in scoring at 16.3 points. Josh Weix leads the Blugolds in both scoring (16.3 ppg) and shooting percentage (124-211, .588). Weix leads the WIAC in shooting percentage and is third in scoring. George Dieckelman is tossing in 14.1 points. Weix ranks third in the WIAC, Dieckelman 11th. BLUGOLDS LAST TIME OUT
- Josh Wiex went off for 25 points, shooting 12 of 14 from the floor, and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Blugolds fell on the road Saturday against UW-Oshkosh, 79-66.
- Eau Claire built up a nine point lead late in the first half, but the Titans got hot at the 3-point line, eventually draining 17-of-29 bombs. Chris Duff and Jack Martinek each added 11 points for the Blugolds.

- Stout fell 80-62 on the road to the Blugolds in their first matchup this season.
- John Keefe scored 19 points in 39 minutes in the game, nailing three 3-pointers. John Lahti added 11 points.
- Eau Claire had four players score in double digit, led by Jack Martinek's 21 points. George Diekelman tossed in 15 points, Chris Duff 12 and Sean Miller 10. Jared Schneiderman pulled down 14 rebounds, as Eau Claire outrebounded Stout, 43-31.
- The Blugolds also took many more trip to the free throw line, dropping in 13-of-16 charity shots. Stout, in contrast, tallied two free throws in only three attempts.

SCOUTING UW-WHITEWATER
- The Warhawks have drifted in and out of the Top 25 this season, but now sit in the No. 21 spot according to D3hoops.com.
- Chris Jones has upped his scoring since the Blue Devils last met him. He's increased his scoring average by almost two points, and leads the WIAC in scoring with 19.6 points. Jones and Zach Knobloch are tied for the conference lead in 3-point shooting percentage at. 527. Jones has dropped in 29-55, while Knobloch is 39-74.
- Scotty Tyler is fourth in the WIAC in rebounds with 6.2 and leads the league in blocked shots with 1.26.
- Whitewater leads the league in scoring with 80.8 points. They give up 71.1 points.
- The Warhawks are now in sole possession of second place behind UW-River Falls.

WARHAWKS LAST TIME OUT
- Whitewater men's basketball team moved into sole possession of second place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings Wednesday night by erasing a late deficit in a 68-64 victory at UW-Platteville.
- The Warhawks, who trail first-place and No. 4 UW-River Falls by three games with five to play, overcame a two-possession deficit with fewer than five minutes to play to extend their winning streak to six games.
- Junior guard Chris Jones tallied a game-high 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting to lead UW-Whitewater

- Stout lost 65-51 in the their last contest with Whitewater in Menomonie in January.
- Sam Ortmann and John Lahti each scored 12 points. For Ortmann, nine of his points came behind the three point line. Lahti finished the day with four blocked shots. Brett Ahsenmacher finished with 11 points.
- The Warhawks were led by Chris Jones with 22. Jones scored 18 in the first half, hitting all four of his first half 3-pointers before the break. Scotty Tyler added 13 and Demetrius Woodley and Derek Rongstad each scored 11.

BLUE DEVIL HISTORY:Â UW-Stout, then Stout Institute, played their first game Jan. 11, 1907, hosting the University of Wisconsin at the Armory in Menomonie. The Badgers handed the Trainers a 29-19 loss.
UW-STOUT COACH EDDIE ANDRIST
- Eddie Andrist (202-225 at Stout, 452-415 overall) is in his 17th year as the coach of the Blue Devils, and his 28th overall in the collegiate ranks.
- Andrist led the Blue Devils to their first NCAA Division III appearance five seasons ago when Stout advanced to the second round.
- Andrist coached at Mount Senario for 11 seasons and won three national championships.
- Andrist spent two stints as a UW-Stout assistant, first as a student coach in the 1970s, then again during the 1980s.
- Andrist spent two stints coaching international basketball, working with the country of Qatar.
UW-EAU CLAIRE COACH MATT SIVERLING
- Matt Siverling enters his fifth season as head men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2016-2017. Between 2004-2007 he was assistant men's basketball coach at UW-Eau Claire.The Blugold's finished off their 2015-2016 season tying for second place in the WIAC with a 9-5 record, and a 17-10 record overall. Most recently Siverling was the head men's basketball coach at UW-Superior for two seasons. With the Yellowjackets he led the team to two WIAC Tournament appearances. In 2011-2012 his 8-8 conference record was the team's best WIAC mark in ten seasons.

UW-WHITEWATER COACH PAT MILLER
- Pat Miller was named head coach of the Warhawks prior to the 2001-02 season. He enters his 16th year at the helm of the program in 2016-17.
Entering the 2015-16 season, Miller ranked tied for 11th all-time, among all NCAA divisions, in winning percentage among coaches with a minimum of 10 seasons coaching at the NCAA level. He passed Ohio State's Thad Matta and North Carolina's Dean Smith following the 2013-14 campaign, and just tied Division I legend Jerry Tarkanian.
CONFERENCES:Â
Stout is a member of the eight team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls. Oshkosh was picked to win the league, followed by La Crosse, Whitewater, Eau Claire, River Falls, Stevens Point, Platteville and Stout.
DEWEY MINTZ COURT:Â The basketball court in Johnson Fieldhouse was named Dewey Mintz Court, Dec. 10, in honor of 27-year Blue Devil coach Dwain Mintz, who coached the Blue Devil men's basketball team from 1962-1989. Nearly 30 years after he retired, Mintz is currently fourth on the WIAC all-time men's basketball coaches wins list with a record of 385-280.Mintz coached league contenders throughout his tenure at UW-Stout from 1963-89, including conference championships in 1966, 1969 and 1975. He was the NAIA District 14 Coach of the Year in 1966 and 1973, and NAIA Area IV Coach of the Year in 1969. During his 27 years at UW-Stout, Dewey Mintz Court is the fifth floor named among member schools in the WIAC. The others include: Bo Ryan Court at UW-Platteville; Ken Anderson Court at UW-Eau Claire; Dave "Augie" Vander Meulen Court at UW-Whitewater; and Bennett Court at UW-Stevens Point, named in honor of Dick and Jack Bennett.
