MENOMONIE (January 13, 2017) - The UW-Stout gymnastics team scored the highest season-opening score in school history as three Blue Devils captured individual first place finishes Friday in Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Blue Devils got first place finishes from freshmen
Mikala Bugge with a 9.675 on the vault and
MacKenzie Nicholson with a 9.475 on the uneven bars. Bugge's score ranks as the top score on the vault at this point in the season in the WIAC and the seventh-best score on the event in school history.Senior
Kaylee Jondahl captured first on the floor exercise with a 9.750 and took top honors in the all-around with a 37.700.
The Blue Devils did drop the meet to UW-Whitewater, 187.950-184.300. Stout topped a season-best of 183.400 set in last year's season opener against UW-La Crosse in Johnson Fieldhouse.
Jondahl also took a third place on the vault (9.50) and a fifth place on the balance beam (9.35).
Freshman
Sierra Beaver captured third on the all-around (37.175), taking sixth on the vault (9.45), uneven bars (9.150) and beam (9.25) and was third on the floor (9.325).
Stout will take to the Great North when they head to the University of Alaska in Anchorage for a pair of meets, Friday, Jan. 20 and Monday, Jan. 23.
