ST. PAUL, Minn (February 5, 2016) - Although the Blue Devils suffered a loss to The Pipers (185.775-182.975), they still managed to make some history in Friday's competition.
Kaylee Jondahl (Jr, Anoka, Minn) broke the school vault record and the UW-Stout team as a whole broke the team vault record as the Blue Devils competed at Hamline University Friday.
Jondahl broke the school vault record with a score 9.80, breaking her own record of 9.750 she set last year.
Kelly Huseman (Jr, Tampa Bay, Fla) was not far behind Jondahl on the vault, hitting a 9.60 and finishing second. The team also managed to come together and beat the event record with a 48.00 on the vault. The previous school vault record was 47.800, set during the 2015 season.
Both Jondahl and Huseman had strong performances throughout the night. Huseman captured the balance beam with a score of 9.55, and the pair tied for first on the uneven bars with a 9.275. Jondahl was was first in the all-around with a score of 37.625 which was her highest overall score this season. She placed second on the floor exercise, hitting a 9.625 and of course took a win with her record breaking stuck vault.
Stout returns home to close out the home portion of the schedule when they host UW-Eau Claire, Friday, Feb. 12.
