THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION: UW-Stout hits the road across borders to compete at Illinois State University. The quad will be against division I teams, including Michigan State and Western Michigan. Michigan State is currently the highest ranking school out of the four teams. They posted a high score of 195.575 so far this season. All-Arounder, Elena Lagoski stands out for the Spartans and has scored up to 38.950. Western Michigan is ranked 42nd in the nation and has consistantly scored near the 193.00 mark. They tend to score particularly well on the Balance Beam. Illinios is the third ranking school in the quad, and has a sesonal average score of 194.175. Amanda Mohler has consitantly posted 9.8 on beam and bars. Chasye Capps has had the best all-around performance for the Redbirds and has scored a 39.775.
A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS: So far this season the Blue Devils have had the biggest success on the vault exercise. They have broken the team record with a 48.000, and
Kaylee Jondahl has broken the individual school record with a 9.800. Jondahl participates in all four events and has been the leader of the Blue Devils this season. Captain,
Kelly Huseman has really stood out this year, and contiues to serve as the anchor of the team on three events. Captain
Callie Counts started the season strong on the balance beam after scoring her career high with a 9.625.
Sara Perez has been a contender on the uneven bars and has contributed to the vault lineup.
Randi Schorzman has seen competition on three events, but is known for her precision on the beam. We have seen significant improvements from
Cassie Evans over the course of the year. The Blue Devils have strong technique, but have struggled with consistancy over the course of the season.
WIAC HONOR ROLL: (Updated Jan. 20, 2016)
Kaylee Jondahl is currently ranked first on the WIAC Honor Roll on the vault (9.800), 9th on the floor exercise (9.700) and 10th in the league in the all-around (37.625).
Callie Counts is 14th in the balance beam(9.625).
Kenzie Hyde is ranked 17th on the vault (9.575) and 9th in the all-around (37.675).
Kelly Huseman is 15th on the vault (9.600).
Cassie Evans is 17th on the vault (9.575).
Randi Schorzmanis 15th on the beam (9.600).Â
LAST TIME OUT: On February 19, 2016 UW-Stout faced another defeat against UW-Oshkosh. Stout scored a 179.000, while Oshkosh took the win with a 185.600. Randi Schorzman posted the highest score from the Blue Devils with a 9.600, after a superb beam routine. Callie Counts took home third place on the same event with a 9.475. Once again Huseman and Jondahl tied for the gold on the vault with a 9.325. Jondahl also came in third on floor with a score of 9.475. Perez had a noteworthy performance on the bars and counted a score of 9.350. The rest of the line up struggled to hit routines and were forced to count several falls.

LAST YEAR'S BLUE DEVILS: UW-Stout began the 2015 season as an underdog, yet significatly flourished to emerge as a NCGA Championship qualifying team. Over the course of the year they earned a team high score of 188.325. The Blue Devils broke the school record as a team on vault (47.800), beam (46.975), and the individual vault score (9.725) set by
Kaylee Jondahl.
Kenzie Hyde and Jondahl earned All-American honors for their performance at Nationals.
AWARDS AND HONORS: Randi Schorzman was selected as the WIAC gymnastics specialist of the week after hitting a season-high and winning the balance beam at UW-Oshkosh, Feb. 19.

THE BLUE DEVIL COACH: UW-Stout: Becky Beaulieu is in her 11th season as the Blue Devil coach. Under Beaulieu's direction, UW-Stout gymnasts have earned 32 All-American awards and Beaulieu has coached national champions on the balance beam in 2008, the floor exercise in 2009, the uneven bars in 2010, the vault and floor exercise in 2011, and the floor in 2015. A UW-Stout gymnast has qualified and competed at the NCAA Division I regionals in 2009 at the University of Iowa and in 2010 at the University of Utah. Beaulieu, competing as Becky McDonnell at UW-La Crosse from 1997-2001, captured back-to-back NCGA floor exercise titles in 1998 and 1999. She established a since-eclipsed school floor exercise record score of 9.8. A seven-time NCGA All-American, she also garnered all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors nine times. The Eagles, for which she was a two-year captain, won two NCGA titles during her competing days. In 2012, Beaulieau was selected to the WIAC All-Time Gymnastics Team as the conference celebrated their 100th anniversary.
WIAC AND NCGA: The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) is made up of eight schools - UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, UW-Whitewater, Hamline University, Gustavus Adolphus College and Winona State University. These eight schools make up the NCGA West Region and are also members of the 14-school National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA). The other six schools are: SUNY-Brockport, SUNY-Cortland, Ithaca (NY) College, Springfield (Mass) College, Rhode Island College, and Ursinus (Pa) College.
