A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS: John Keefe returns as the Blue Devils' leading scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game, ranking 10th in the WIAC. Thirteen times last season, Keefe scored in double digits and was the team's scoring leader in 12 games. When Keefe isn't scoring, he is dishing and his 3.4 assists per contest led the WIAC. The junior from Medford was second in the league in steals with 1.75 per outing. Isaac Elliott averaged 7.3 points. Jalen Patterson was the Blue Devils' second leading scorer, but Patterson is on an internship this semester. The Blue Devils are outrebounding their opponents, 35.4-34.2. John Lahti averaged a team-best 4.7 rebounds, ranking 12th in the WIAC and scored 6.4 points. Stout is being outscored, 72.8-.65.5. The Blue Devils have three seniors - Brett Ahsenmacher, Jacob Nordstrom and Cory Speer. SCOUTING UM-CROOKSTON: Last season, the Golden Eagles were led by C.J. Polk and Derrick Redd who averaged 12.3 and 11.2 points per game respectively, who now have graduated. Crookston will now look to others to lead the team, including Kobe Critchly, who was third in scoring (9.2 ppg) and who led the team in assists last season with 69 total. As a team, the Golden Eagles are long and lanky, not having a player under six feet tall and having eight players 6-foot-6 or taller. They finished with 3-23 record last season, finishing last, but always play in a tough NSIC Div. II conference, which includes the Winonna State Warriors. | 2015-16 Statistics

GOLDEN EAGLES LAST TIME OUT: The Golden Eagles enter the season with a 1-1 mark after splitting with Southwest Baptist University and Lincoln University of Missouri at the SBU Classic in Bolivar, Mo., over the weekend. The Golden Eagles upended Southwest Baptist 73-64 and hung with a strong Lincoln team for the majority of the game before falling 76-65.. | Game Story and Statistics

LAST TIME STOUT AND CROOKSTON MET: Crookston found their range against UW-Stout, and their range was long distance as the Golden Eagles connected on 13 3-pointers on their way to a 74-51 win over the Blue Devils Nov. 14, 215,at Johnson Fieldhouse. The NCAA Division II Golden Eagles (1-1) hit on 13-of-25 long range shots, shooting.520 from beyond the arc. For the game, Crookston hit 26-of-49 shots (.531).. | Story and Statistics


SCOUTING HOPE COLLEGE: Hope is ranked No. 22 in the preseason d3hoops.com NCAA Division III poll. The Flying Dutchmen must overcome the graduation of five seniors, including their two leading scorers and rebounders in center Brock Benson and guard Ben Gardner of Carmel, Indiana. The two combined for 27.8 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Gardner was an All-MIAA First Team Selection. Benson was a second-team pick. The Flying Dutchmen are coming off their most successful season under Greg Mitchell. They recorded their most wins since the 2010-11 season, when they went 27-2. They claimed their MIAA-best 38th league championship and 32nd league title outright. They received an at-large berth to the Division III national tournament for the 25th NCAA postseason appearance. SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS: Last season, the Eagles found themselves atop of the CCAC tournament and got a chance to play in the NAIA national tournament. Their tournament play was soon dashed as they fell in overtime to the Pilots 85-80. The Eagles open this season seven places better than they ended last season, jumping from no. 20 to no. 13 in the NAIA Division II Coaches Poll. Eagles are looking to pick up where they left off from last year when they won their 11th CCAC Conference Tournament championship and advanced to their 13th NAIA National Tournament. THE COACHES: UW-Stout: Eddie Andrist (190-219 at Stout, 440-410 overall) is in his 16th year as the coach of the Blue Devils, and his 26th overall in the collegiate ranks. Andrist led the Blue Devils to their first NCAA Division III appearance five seasons ago when Stout advanced to the second round. Andrist coached at Mount Senario for 11 seasons and won three national championships. Andrist spent two stints coaching international basketball, working with the country of Qatar. UW-River FallsJeff Berkhof (121-136)has been a mainstay of the Falcon program as a player, assistant coach and now in his 10th season as the Head Coach of the Falcons. During the 2014-15 season Berkhof moved into 2nd place in coaching victories at UW-River Falls trailing only his predecessor, Rick Bowen who retired in 2006. In the past five years, Berkhof has brought the Falcons to the forefront of Division III college basketball and the WIAC conference. In 2012 the Falcons claimed its first ever WIAC conference tournament championship and enjoyed back-to-back 20 win seasons and NCAA Tournament bids during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. UM-CrookstonDan Weisse enters his third season as the head coach for the men's basketball program at UMC. In Coach Weisse's second season the rebuilding process officially began as his first full recruiting class was set to begin their collegiate careers. The team featured only one senior, three juniors, two sophomores, and eight freshmen on the roster. Weisse stresses recruiting not just talent, but the importance of recruiting the right talent, and having high character people to build a program. In Coach Weisse's third season, the team will feature two seniors, one junior, seven sophomores, and six freshman. Hope College: Greg Mitchell (42-13) is in his third year as the head coach at Hope. Robert Morris: The 2016-2017 season will mark Al Bruehl's 20th season as the head coach at RMU. He holds an impressive overall record of 558-185, including 411-136 at Robert Morris. His Eagle teams have won twelve Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships, while making thirteen NAIA National Tournament appearances. Bruehl was selected as IBCA NAIA Division II Co-Coach of the Year earned his 19th IBCA NAIA Coach of the Year award in 2016.


CONFERENCES: Stout is a member of the eight team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls.
