THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Blue Devils (4-13, 0-7 WIAC) will travel to UW-Stevens Point, (9-8, 2-4 WIAC) Wednesday, Jan. 27, then return home to begin the second round of WIAC play to host UW-Eau Claire (11-7, 4-3 WIAC) at 3 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS: John Keefe is the Blue Devils' leading scorer, averaging 12.8 points per game, ranking 11th in the WIAC. Twelve times this season, Keefe has scored in double digits and has been the team's scoring leader in 11 games. When Keefe isn't scoring, he is dishing and his 4.18 assists per contest leads the WIAC. The sophomore from Medford is second in the league in steals with 1.94 per outing. Jalen Patterson is averaging 7.8 points per game and Isaac Elliott is averaging 7.0 points. Patterson ranks 12th in the WIAC in steals (0.93). After suffering an injury in the first game of the season, team captain Brett Ahsenmacher returned to the Blue Devils' line-up for the two games in Las Vegas, and has been there ever since, and now averages 6.3 points. The Blue Devils are outrebounding their opponents, 36.5-33.4. John Lahti is averaging a team-best 5.1 rebounds, ranking 11th in the WIAC and is scoring 6.2 points. Stout is being outscored, 71.4-.64.3. The Blue Devils have exceeded their wins total from last season. A QUICK 2014-15 REVIEW: UW-Stout returns eight of its top-10 scorers from last year, including junior guard Brett Ahsenmacher who was second on the team with 8.9 points per contest. The roster includes two seniors, four juniors, seven sophomores and seven freshmen. Due to injuries last season, the Blue Devils had only three players that participated in all 25 games, and utilized 12 different starting lineups. UW-Stout will play just four of its first 10 games at Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils will look to shake off a 3-22 season. Forward John Lahti, and guards Sam Ortmann and Isaac Elliott were the only three players last season to see action in all 25 games. BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: UW-Stevens Point shot a blistering 61 percent in the first half, racing out to an 18 point halftime lead and went on to hand UW-Stout a 68-51 loss Wednesday at Bennett Court. The Blue Devils (4-13, 0-7 WIAC) outscored the Pointers, 29-28, in the second half, but only got as close as 13 points with about two minutes left to play. SCOUTING UW-EAU CLAIRE: The Blugolds are led by Jack Martinek with 13.9 points, George Diekelman with 13.1 points and Tyson Kalien with 11.7 points. Kalien missed the first eight games of the season. BLUGOLDS LAST TIME OUT: One game after downing UW-Whitewater, UW-Eau Claire notched another quality win with a 67-50 win over UW-Oshkosh Wednesday. George Diekelman led the Blugolds with 17 points. The Blugolds had no problem offensively taking on the nation's 25th best defense as they shot 47.4 percent from the field and 41.2 percent (7-17) from behind the arc. | Game Story and Statistics

LAST TIME STOUT AND EAU CLAIRE MET: UW-Stout had three players in double digits, but it wouldn't be enough as UW-Eau Claire held off the Blue Devils, 72-58, Wednesday at Zorn Arena.Tyson Kalien of the Blugolds scored a game-high 18 points, connecting on five 3-pointers. George Diekelman finished with 16 points and Jacob Kohner added 10. The Blugolds shot 40 percent (22-55) from the floor and hit 13-of-34 3-pointers. Eau Claire was also 15-of-19 from the line. ALUMNI DAY: The Blue Devils will celebrate their annual alumni day Saturday, Jan. 30, with a full day of basketball. The alumni game is scheduled to tip off at 11 a.m., followed by a varsity reserve game at 12:15 p.m. A pre-game reception with the 1965-66 team will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Hall of Champions. The Blue Devils will take on UW-Eau Claire at 3 p.m., and the 65-66 team will be introduced at halftime. A post game celebration will begin at 4:45 p.m.

1965-66 TEAM: The Blue Devils won their first conference title in 23 years after going 15-1 in WSUC play during the 1965-66 season. Stout was coming off a 15-7 record the previous season and were picked in a preseason poll to be the top team in the NAIA District 14. Stout's only conference loss - their 15-1 record was Stout's best-ever conference record - came in an overtime game to Stevens Point. Guard Mike Thompson was a first team all-WSUC pick, and Jerry Kissman and Jim Conley were second team selections. Coach Dwain Mintz was selected the NAIA Area IV coach of the year and Thompson and Kissman earned all-district honors. Additional team members included: Doug Pertunen, Bryan Humphrey, Willie White, Bob Lawrence, Less Teuteberg, Tom Fourtney, Carl Wymer, Eddie Ellis, Doug Bainbridge, Mel Coleman, Dave Lauer and team captain Bill Ozga. SCOUTING UW-STEVENS POINT: The Pointers, coming off a national championship and three straight conference titles, find themselves in seventh place in the WIAC. The Pointers are the stingiest defensive team, allowing 61.7 points per contest, but score the least 60.8. Sean McGann is team's scoring leader at 15.5 points. Stephen Pelfkofer is dropping 12.6 points. McGann leads the team in rebounding with 4.4 caroms per contest. LAST TIME STOUT AND STEVENS POINT MET:Stevens Point came out shooting from all over the floor in Wednesday's 73-56 UW-Stout loss. AWARDS AND HONORS: John Keefe was named to the D3hoops.com Classic all-tournament team, Dec. 30...John Keefe was selected the UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week, Dec. 7 after scoring 26 and 24 points in back-to-back games...Isaac Elliott was named to the Buzz Levick all tournament team at Wartburg College, Nov. 21...(last season) Brett Ahsenmacher was selected as the UW-Stout Northwestern Mutual athlete of the week, Jan. 5, after his performance at the St. Norbert Tournament...Brett Ahsenmacher was selected to the all-tournament team at the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament hosted by St. Norbert College, Dec. 29-30...Jarvis Ragland was selected as the UW-Stout Northwestern Mutual athlete of the week, Dec. 1 and as the WIAC Athlete of the Week Dec. 2 after averaging 22.5 points during the UW-Stout Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout.

TEAM CAPTAINS: Blue Devil team captain for the 2015-16 season is Brett Ahsenmacher.

VARSITY RESERVE: The Blue Devils have a number of varsity reserve games on their schedule. Stout defeated UW-Barron County, 92-74, Nov. 17. The Blue Devils will take on UW-Superior (Dec. 1, W 79-47), St. Mary's (Dec. 3, L,82-57; Jan. 28), and UW-Eau Claire (Jan. 13, Jan. 30).

THE COACHES: UW-Stout: Eddie Andrist (190-212 at Stout, 440-403 overall) is in his 16th year as the coach of the Blue Devils, and his 26th overall in the collegiate ranks. Andrist led the Blue Devils to their first NCAA Division III appearance five seasons ago when Stout advanced to the second round. Andrist coached at Mount Senario for 11 seasons and won three national championships. Andrist spent two stints coaching international basketball, working with the country of Qatar. UW-Stevens Point: Bob Semling (251-62) is in his 11th year at UW-Stevens Point as the head coach.semlin has won four national championships with the Pointers.In 10seasons at UW-Stevens Point,Semling has led the Pointers to two NCAA Division III national championships (2010, 2015), in addition to being an assistant on the back-to-back national championship teams of 2004 and 2005. UW-Eau Claire: Matt Siverling (42-53 at UW-Eau Claire, 71-77 overall) is in his fourth year at UW-Eau Claire and in his sixth season overall as a collegiate head coach. Siverling was the UW-Superior head coach for two years before coming to Eau Claire.

CONFERENCES: Stout is a member of the eight team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls. UW-Superior left the conference after the 2014-15 season.
