THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION: The Blue Devils will close out the dual portion of their schedule when they travel to
UW-Eau Claire, Friday, March 6 for a 6 p.m. contest with the Blugolds. The Blue Devils are coming off their best score of the season and the second-best score in school history when they were edged by Winona State, 189.025-188.325, Feb. 28 in Menomonie. Kaylee Jondahl tied the school vault record.
A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS: The 2015 UW-Stout Blue Devils are made up of one senior, four juniors, three sophomores and five freshmen. The Blue Devils return three players who have national experience. Sophomore
Kaylee Jondahl and junior
Randi Schorzman last season competed at the national meet Schorzman on the balance beam and Jondahl on the floor exercise. Jondahl narrowly missed advancing on the vault. Schorzman earned All-America honors as a freshman. Junior
Sara Perez competed on the uneven bars as a freshman and will be looking for a return trip this year. The Blue Devils have worked their way through injuries the first part of the season. The Blue Devils graduated seven seniors from last year's team. |

WIAC Honor RollLAST TIME OUT: UW-Stout broke the school vault and balance beam records, nearly surpassed the school team record and
Kaylee Jondahl tied the school vault record as the Blue Devils scored their highest team score of the season in a narrow loss to Winona State, 189.025-188.325, Saturday at Johnson Fieldhouse. All six Blue Devils, paced by Jondahl's record matching score, scored better than a 9.00 on the vault as the team scored a 47.800, topping the previous record of 47.400. Jondahl captured top honors with a personal best score of 9.70, matching the previous mark set by Naomi DeLara in 2011.
Kenzie Hyde finished third (9.600).
Randi Schorzman (9.55) and
Kelly Huseman (9.525) each set personal bests, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. Jondahl took top awards on the all-around with a personal best score of 37.825. Jondahl was fifth on the uneven bars with a personal best 9.300, ninth on the balance beam (9.20) and second on the floor exercise (9.625). The beam team finished with a score of 46.975, topping the previous mark of 46.875 set last February. |

UW-EAU CLAIRE: The Blugolds finsihed third at a triangular at UW-La Crosse, along with Hamline University, Feb. 27. The Blugolds finished with 181.050 team points. Tori Erickson finished second in the all-around, scoring 35.350 points in the all-around event including 8.975 on floor exercise, 9.500 on balance beam, 8.225 on the uneven bars, and 8.650 on vault. Three Blugolds - Jessica Dhaene, Leah Robinette, and Lauren Zurowski - tallied a 9.450 each to finish in a tie for fourth on the uneven bars, the team's highest scores on the bars this season. The Blugolds have twice cracked the 185 point margin, most recently taking a 185.925-178.300 win over Gustavus Adolphus, Feb. 20, and a season-high 187.850 in a loss at Centenary College, Feb. 6. Erickson has the team's top all-around score (37.025). Elizabeth Stubbs is ranked fourth on the WIAC Honor Roll on the balance beam (9.70) and fifth on the floor exercise (9.750). THE BLUE DEVIL COACH: UW-Stout: Becky Beaulieu is in her 10th season as the Blue Devil coach. Under Beaulieu's direction, UW-Stout gymnasts have earned 32 All-American awards and Beaulieu has coached national champions on the balance beam in 2008, the floor exercise in 2009, the uneven bars in 2010 and the vault and floor exercise in 2011. A UW-Stout gymnast has qualified and competed at the NCAA Division I regionals in 2009 at the University of Iowa and in 2010 at the University of Utah. Beaulieu, competing as Becky McDonnell at UW-La Crosse from 1997-2001, captured back-to-back NCGA floor exercise titles in 1998 and 1999. She established a since-eclipsed school floor exercise record score of 9.8. A seven-time NCGA All-American, she also garnered all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors nine times. The Eagles, for which she was a two-year captain, won two NCGA titles during her competing days. In 2012, Beaulieau was selected to the WIAC All-Time Gymnastics Team as the conference celebrated their 100th anniversary.
WIAC AND NCGA: The
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) is made up of eight schools - UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, UW-Whitewater, Hamline University, Gustavus Adolphus College and Winona State University. These eight schools make up the NCGA West Region and are also members of the 15-school
National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA). The other seven schools are: SUNY-Brockport, SUNY-Cortland, Ithaca (NY) College, Springfield (Mass) College, Rhode Island College, Ursinus (Pa) College and Wilson (Pa) College.
