A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS : Jarvis Ragland, UW-Stout's only senior, leads both the Blue Devils and the WIAC in scoring and is second in the league in rebounding. Ragland is averaging 17.2 points per contest and 6.6 rebounds per outing. Ragland is shooting at a 48.9 percent mark (133-272). Ragland has scored in double figures in all but two games he has played this season, with a career-high of 26 points against Northwestern, Dec. 20, and a season-low of six points, that coming against UW-Platteville Jan. 24. Ragland has been the team's leading scorer in 15 games this season, and has been the team's leading rebounder 12 times. Ragland 10 times this season has scored 20 points or more and four times has pulled down 10 or more rebounds, giving him the team's only double-doubles of the season, and his only career double-doubles. Ragland ranks first in scoring in tthe WIAC, second in rebounding, 10th in field goal percentage, and ninth in minutes played (31.5). Ragland has had the team's only double-doubles of the season, tossing in 25 points and pulling down 15 rebounds against Bethany Lutheran, 18 points and 10 rebounds against UW-Whitewater, 21 points and 11 rebounds against UW-Oshkosh the first time around and 21 points and 10 rebounds against the Titans in the second meeting. .Ragland also has 30 assists, second on the team.

Brett Ahsenmacher scored a career-best 22 points against John Carroll University and is currently averaging 9.0 points. Ahsenmacher is tied with Ragland for second on the team in assists with 32, and leads the team in steals with 20...Freshman
Jalen Patterson has been increasing his team input and is now averaging 7.1 points per contest. Patterson's 13 blocked shots over 19 games (0.68/game) ranks third in the WIAC...Freshman
John Keefe, who had a 30 point outburst - a team season-high - in early December, is averaging 6.4 points and leads the team in assists with 38...

Sam Ortmann has dished off 30 assists. Ortmann, Lahti and
Isaac Elliott - all three freshmen - are the only Blue Devils to have played in all 24 games this season. Stout has had 11 players start at least one game this season. Stout's team scoring average of 66.3 points is fifth best in the league, but their points allowed, 76.9, is ranked ninth. Stout has lost seven conference games by seven points or less. |
2014-15 StatisticsKUJAKS OUT: The Kujak brothers have been lost for the season.
Reggie Kujak went down with a wrist injury against UW-Eau Claire and
Hank Kujak went down with a leg injury against UW-Oshkosh. Hank set a career-best in points scored, tallying 17 against UW-Whitewater, Jan. 10 and finished the season with 26 assists in 13 games. Reggie had been coming along as a force in the paing, averaging 4.7 rebounds per game and had 14 blocked shots, which if he had played in the 75 percent minimum of games required to be listed in the WIAC stats list would rank him third.
STOUT'S LAST TIME OUT: UW-Stout held a five point halftime lead over UW-Superior, but like so often this year could not hold onto the lead and the Yellowjackets captured a 67-59 win at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium Wednesday. Behind eight points by
Mac Oreskovic and eight points by
Jarvis Ragland, the Blue Devils led 35-30 at halftime. The Yellowjackets bounced back to take a 40-35 lead at 16:50 in the second half, but Stout came back to take the lead. Brett Ashenmacher hit a 3-pointer, Patrick D'Marcco made back-to-back buckets and Oreskovic hit a jumper at 12:37 to give Stout a 44-41 lead. Superior reversed that to take a 52-47 lead, then built that up to a seven point, 56-49 lead at 5:44. The Blue Devils made one more run at the Yellowjackets, closing the gap to 60-59 with just under two minutes left to play. Superior would close out the game on a 7-0 run. Oreskovic led the Blue Devils with a career-high 13 points. hitting 5-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-5 from 3 point range.

Story and Box ScoreSCOUTING UW-WHITEWATER: The three top teams in the D3hoops.com Top 25 men's poll got picked off last week. The Warhawks were ranked No. 1 when they lost to UW-Stevens Point, 72-69, Feb. 11, and fell to No 2. Former No. 2 St. Thomas and No. 3 Marietta also suffered losses. The duo of Quardell Young and KJ Evans have proven to be a formidable pair this year for the defending national champion. Young is averaging 16.0 points and Evans leads the league in rebounds at 8.1 per contest. He is also tossing in 14.8 points. One of Whitewater's losses came to Cardinal Strich in the season opener, an NAIA program that was at Stout's Thanksgiving tournament. The Warhawks are outscoring their opponents 77.3-62.8.. |

Yellowjacket StatisticsTHE YELLOWJACKETS LAST TIME OUT: The 2014-15 season is coming to a close for the Yellowjacket mens' basketball team and they were playing the role of "spoiler" on Valentine's Day Saturday at UW-Oshkosh. Story and Box ScoreLAST TIME STOUT AND SUPERIOR MET: A tough UW-Superior team stole the show late against UW-Stout Saturday afternoon in Johnson Fieldhouse. The final minutes tested the Blue Devils, but Superior came out on top 72-65. Superior's Zach Schradle finished with a game high in both points and rebounds, posting a 23 and 15 double-double.

Game Story and StatisticsCLIMBING THE LADDER: Jarvis Ragland has been climbing the UW-Stout career scoring list througout the season. He currently has 892 career points and is 32nd on the all-time career list, recently passing Jarrod Buchholtz (879, 2007-11) and Randy Neve (875, 1990-93) and Dale Magedanz (1969-73) and Keith Moessner (1956-59) each have 886 career points. Ragland currently has 379 points this season, moving onto the single season list and recently moved into the top 45 of the all-time UW-Stout leading rebounders. Ragland currently has 331 career rebounds.

THE COACHES: UW-Stout: Eddie Andrist (186-198 at Stout, 436-389 overall) is in his 15th year as the coach of the Blue Devils, and his 26th overall in the collegiate ranks. Andrist led the Blue Devils to their first NCAA Division III appearance five seasons ago when Stout advanced to the second round. Andrist coached at Mount Senario for 11 seasons and won three national championships. Andrist spent two stints coaching international basketball, working with the country of Qatar.
UW-Superior: Paul Eberhardt is in his third season as the head coach of the Yellowjacket men's basketball team. In his first two seasons Eberhardt has guided the Yellowjackets to a 16-35 record.
UW-Whitewater: Pat Miller (311-86) is in his 12th year as the head coach of the Warhawks. With a winning percentage of .783, Miller ranks 12th all-time, among all NCAA divisions, in winning percentage among coaches with a minimum of 10 seasons coaching at the NCAA level. He passed Ohio State's Thad Matta and North Carolina's Dean Smith following the 2013-14 campaign
CONFERENCES: Stout is a member of the nine team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Superior, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls. Superior will leave the conference after the 2014-15 season.
