Freshman takes first on vault, Blue Devils open season at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH (January 11, 2014) - UW-Stout freshman Kaylee Jondahl (Anoka, Minn) and junior Katherine Prouty (Tigard, Ore) placed first and second on the vault as the Blue Devils opened their 2014 season at the UW-Oshkosh Triangular.

Jondahl took the vault event with a score of 9.425 and Prouty was right behind with a score of 9.40. Kaitlynn Christianson (Sr, Ottawa, Ill) was eighth (9.10). Christianson competed on the vault for the first time since her sophomore season.

As a team, the Blue Devils finished third in the triangular behind host Oshkosh (182.625) and Hamline University (180.025) with a score of 176.925.

Sara Perez (So, Tigard, Ore) finished fourth on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.450,one-tenth of a point lower than her career-best. Jondahl was seventh on the event (9.00). Kasondra Tulloch (Fr,Cottage Grove, Minn) was ninth (8.925).

Christianson was fourth on the floor exercise (9.525). Tara Zimmerman (Jr, Forest Lake, Minn) was eighth (9.275) and Callie Counts (So, Greenback, Tenn) ninth (9.175).

Christianson had Stout's best finish on the balance beam, placing 12th (8.675). Perez was 13th (8.475).

Prouty was third in the all-around with a score of 34.95.

Stout will compete in a dual with Winona State University, Friday, Jan. 17 at Winona, Minn.
