DeZiel's career night leads Blue Devils to win over UW-Oshkosh

MENOMONIE (March 1, 2013) - Brittany DeZiel (Jr, Rogers, Minn.) set new personal bests on the vault, beam, and in the all-around as Stout defeated UW-Oshkosh, 185.450-181.300, Friday night at Johnson Fieldhouse.

As a team, Stout broke the school vault record, scoring a 47.500. Katherine Prouty (So, Tigard, Ore.) won the event individually with a 9.575 and DeZiel's new personal best of 9.550 earned her second place.

Also contributing to the new vault record were Natasha Hansen (So, Bloomington, Minn.), Randi Schorzman (Fr, Buckley, Wash.), and Callie Counts (Fr, Greenback, Tenn.). Hansen and Schorzman both scored personal bests of 9.525 and 9.500, respectively, while Counts contributed a 9.350.

DeZiel's 9.550 on the balance beam led a group of three Blue Devils who occupied the top three spots. Prouty scored a 9.175 and Counts earned a 9.150, to grab second and third place.

On the floor exercise, DeZiel again led the pack, scoring a 9.500. Prouty grabbed another second with a 9.375, followed by Kaitlynn Christensen (Ottawa, Ill.) and Jenna Lensing (Sr, Little Canada, Minn.) in third and fourth place, respectively.

DeZiel won the all-around with a total of 37.925, followed by Prouty, who scored a 37.375.

Prouty and DeZiel earned the top two spots in every event except the uneven bars, which were won by Oshkosh's Leane Blais (9.400).

Stout will travel to Oshkosh, Saturday, Mar. 9, for the WIAC Championships/NCGA Regionals, which will begin at 5:30 p.m.
