Prouty wins vault, floor, and all-around as Stout defeats Hamline

MENOMONIE (February 22, 2013) - Katherine Prouty (So, Tigard, Ore.) took first place on the vault, floor exercise, and in the all-around as Stout defeated Hamline University, 184.325-182.350, Friday night at Johnson Fieldhouse.

Prouty won the vault for the fourth time this season with a score of 9.550. She bested everyone on the floor with a 9.600 and took the all-around with a total of 37.675. Prouty took second (9.225) and third (9.300) on the beam and bars, respectively.

On the bars, Prouty was among five Blue Devils who occupied the top five spots. Brittany DeZiel (Jr, Rogers, Minn.) took home first place with a 9.525, followed by Sara Perez (Fr, Tigard, Ore.), who earned silver with a 9.450. Prouty took third, followed by Jenna Lensing (Sr, Little Canada, Minn.) and Genna Boeckmann (Sr, St. Cloud, Minn.) in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Kaitlynn Christensen (Jr, Ottawa, Ill.) set a new personal best on the floor, taking third with a 9.550. DeZiel finished fifth on the floor with a 9.450 and tied for fourth with Randi Schorzman (Fr, Buckley, Wash.) on the vault, both with identical scores of 9.350.

Hamline's Courtney Benson, who won the balance beam with a 9.350, closely trailed Prouty in the all-around, compiling a total score of 37.475. DeZiel took third with a 37.225.

Stout will host another dual meet next Friday, Mar. 1, when they welcome UW-Oshkosh for a 6 p.m. meet at Johnson Fieldhouse. Stout will celebrate the careers of their three seniors, Lensing, Boeckmann, and Vanessa Zahratka (Lakeville, Minn.) for Senior Night.
