UW-Eau Claire 183.525, UW-Stout 182.750
EAU CLAIRE (January 29, 2013) - Four days after scoring her lowest score of the season, UW-Stout's
Sara Perez (Fr, Tigard, Ore) hit her top score of the season when she took the top spot on the uneven bars in a dual meet at UW-Eau Claire Tuesday in the McPhee Physical Education Center.
Perez took first on the bars by posting a 9.350, far surpassing a 7.90 score at the John Zuerlein Invitational last week in Menomonie. Perez outpaced her second place competitor, Olivia Aschenbrenner, who scored a 9.20. Perez's previous collegiate best score was a 9.30, set at the Ozone Collegiate Classic, Jan. 19.
As a team, Stout tallied their top score of the year in four events, topping 182 points for the first time this season, with a 182.750, but Eau Claire edged past the Blue Devils with a 183.525.
Katherine Prouty (So, Tigard, Ore) scored her lowest score of the year on the vault (9.550), but it was still strong enough to easily win first on the event.
Brittany DeZiel (Jr, Rogers, Minn) took the top spot on the floor exercise with a 9.475, her top floor score of the season. DeZiel also topped the charts in the all-around with a 37.100.
The Blue Devils posted their highest team scores of the season on the uneven bars (45.40) and on the balance beam (45.80).
Prouty and DeZiel tied for third on uneven bars with a 9.175.
Stout captured four of the five top spots on the vault. In addition to Prouty taking the vault,
Callie Counts (Fr, Greenback, Tenn) was third with a career-best 9.40, and DeZiel and
Chloe Hustad (So, Wellington, Fla) tied for fourth (9.375). Hustad was fifth on the floor (9.225) and
Randi Schorzman (Fr, Buckley, Wash) was fifth on the balance beam (9.30), a career-best.
After three meets over 10 days, Stout is off until they travel to UW-La Crosse, Friday, Feb. 8.
