2-13 Stout's record in their past 15 meetings with UW-Whitewater.

THE BLUE DEVILS (13-3, 6-2 WIAC): UW-Stout is starting to hit their stride as they head into their second cycle of conference  games. In their past two games, Stout has recorded their two highest field goal percentages of the season (.593 at Oshkosh; .545 vs. La Crosse), aided by an improvement from beyond the arc. They have 18 three-pointers in the past two games, more than they made in the previous four games, combined. Their 8-for-14 clip against La Crosse was their best three-point percentage of any game this year, and their 21 rebounds allowed were the fewest of any opponent. Stout also committed a season-low eight fouls to limit La Crosse to just six attempts, of which they made three. Stout's defensive numbers remain impeccable, as they rank among the nation's best in scoring defense (53.4 ppg) and field goal percentage allowed (.356). Stout also boasts a conference-best rebounding margin of +8.1 after nearly doubling La Crosse in boards (37-21). They have only allowed their opponents to score over 60 points three times, accounting for all three of their losses. They have won their other 13 games, holding their opponents to an average of 49.8 points in those contests...Alex Oman leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game, including a team-high four 20-point performances. He is also tied for first on the team in steals, and second in blocks and assists. After heating up to begin January, Chris Hortman had his best performance of the year against La Crosse, going for 21 points and 13 rebounds, including three key offensive boards to keep the ball on their end of the court down the stretch. In his four games in January, Hortman is averaging 18 points and 9.3 rebounds and has led the team in both categories in all four of those games. That stretch includes two double-doubles, more than any other Blue Devil has on the season. He has now upped his scoring average to 12.1 points per game, which is the second-highest on the team. Jarvis Ragland ranks third in scoring with an average of 11.3 points per game. 6-8 center Josh Kosloske has served as Stout's big man down low from game one. Kosloske kickstarted his season with a 16-point, 12-rebound performance in the opener, and leads the team with 6.3 boards per game, which is the third best average in the WIAC. He is also leading the team in shooting percentage with a .642 clip from the field. Aaron Jenny is averaging 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Erik Olson is having a very productive season directing the offense from the point guard position. Helped by 16 assists over his last two games, his 6.13 assists per game and assist to turnover ratio of 3.38 are both first in the conference and both rank him inside the top 15, nationally.  | 2012-13 Statistics

A PLACE IN THE RECORD BOOKS: Erik Olson has been climbing the Stout leaderboard in assists all year, and the inevitable happened against Superior on Dec. 5, as Olson passed Jeremy Leibfried's record total of 358, making him the all-time career assists leader in the Stout record books. Olson broke the record with his third assist of the game, and currently has 369.

STOUT'S LAST TIME OUT: Chris Hortman continued his hot streak Wednesday night, recording his second double-double in three games as Stout defeated UW-La Crosse, 63-55, at Johnson Fieldhouse. Hortman, who recorded his first double-double of the season a week ago, went off for 21 points and 13 rebounds to help Stout jump ahead of UW-La Crosse in the conference standings. Hortman was 7-for-15 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three. After Stout erased an early seven-point deficit, neither team led by more than three points the rest of the first half and a jumper at the buzzer by Lucas Collom, who also had eight points in the half, tied the score at 30 at the break. The first half featured five lead changes and five ties. La Crosse went on the first substantial scoring run of the second half, an 8-0 spurt that gave them a 44-37 lead. Stout answered right back, getting buckets from Aaron Jenny and Jarvis Ragland before Hortman hit back-to-back threes to cap off a 10-0 run to grab a three-point lead with nine minutes to play. It was with three minutes remaining when Stout went on their game-winning run. Alex Oman started the run with three-pointers on back-to-back possessions, and Ragland finished a three-point play seconds later to give Stout an eight-point, 61-53, lead with two minutes to play. La Crosse cut their deficit to six, but could not get any closer as Stout milked the clock using offensive rebounds to extend their possessions. The Blue Devils collected six offensive rebounds in the final four minutes, with Hortman alone grabbing three in the final minute. His game-high 13 rebounds was the highest total of his career as a Blue Devil. | Story and Stats

SCOUTING #15 UW-WHITEWATER (13-3, 6-2 WIAC): UW-Whitewater, who won the national championship last year, are in a dead lock with Stout heading into Saturday's game. They have identical overall and conference records, sitting in a tie with each other for second place in the conference. While Stout has rolled up 13 wins using defense and rebounding, Whitewater has used a prolific offense to equal that win total. The Warhawks are scoring a conference-best 72.7 points per game and shooting 47 percent from the field. Their biggest weakness has been defending the three, where they rank last in the conference, allowing their opponents to shoot over 38 percent from beyond the arc...Four Warhawks average over 10 points per game, but not a single one of them stands far above the rest. Quardell Young leads the team at 12.4 points per game and also directs the offense, dishing out 4.4 assists per game, trailing only Stout's Erik Olson in the WIAC. Young also leads the conference with 2.3 steals per game. Luke Knoble trails Young with 12.2 points per game, while Eric Bryson adds 10.4 per game and Darnell Harris, who leads the team in rebounding (5.2 rpg), averages 10.1 points per contest. | 2012-13 Statistics

UW-WHITEWATER'S LAST TIME OUT:
The Warhawks coasted to an easy 68-50 victory over UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, extending their current win streak to seven games. Whitewater led the entire game and were rarely threatened in the second half. They opened up the game on a 10-3 run and with five minutes to go in the half, they led by double digits. Oshkosh cut into the lead momentarily, but Whitewater built it back up to 10, a 35-25 lead, by halftime. Midway through the second half, Oshkosh put together a charge and cut their deficit to five points, but a 7-0 Warhawk run put the lead in double digits for the rest of the game. Quardell Young had 11 points while Eric Bryson and Darnell Harris each added 10. | Story and Stats

THE SERIES:
UW-Whitewater leads the series, 70-43. Whitewater has won four of the last six and 13 of the last 15 games against Stout.

EARLIER THIS SEASON (December 1, 2012): A seven point swing by third-ranked UW-Whitewater in the final minute doomed the UW-Stout men's basketball team as they lost for the first time all year, 64-58. Whitewater's Eric Bryson hit a three with 55 seconds remaining to put the Warhawks up, 58-53. On the ensuing possesion, Keith Rash came up with a three of his own to pull Stout within two. The dagger came with 15 seconds to go and Stout still trailing by two. Whitewater's KJ Evans was able to hit a three while also drawing a foul, giving him the rare oppurtunity for a four-point play. He was able to hit the free-throw as well to put Whitewater up by 6. The first half was a slugfest, as neither team was really able to get going offensively and at the break the score was tied, 23-23. Both teams shot under 30% for the half. In the second half, the Blue Devils shot much better, hitting 48% of their shots and 50% of their three-point attempts. However, free-throws proved to be an issue for the team, as they shot only 10-19 for the half and 12-21 overall. Stout got off to a fast start in the second half, going on a 9-2 run in the first four minutes. The Blue Devils managed to retain the lead for the better part of the half, until a 9-0 run by Whitewater put the Warhawks up, 49-45 with under four to go. Stout would cut the lead to one on an Alex Oman three, but the Warhawks would lead the rest of the game. Rash led the Blue Devils on a late charge, scoring eight of his 14 points in the final three minutes of the game, but in the end it wasn't enough. Rash shot 4-9 for the game, including 2-4 from beyond the arc. He shared game-high scoring honors with Oman, who shot only 5-14 overall, but 3-4 from three-point land. Oman also pulled down five rebounds, including two on the offensive end. | Story and Stats
