MENOMONIE (January 31, 2012) - UW-Stout's
Brittany DeZiel (So, Rogers, Minn) finished first in three events and the Blue Devils went on to down UW-Eau Claire, 180.475-180.225 Tuesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.
DeZiel took top honors on the uneven bars with a personal best score of 9.45, tied for first on the floor exercise with the Blugolds' Danielle Schultzetenberg with a score of 9.375, and took top honors in the all-around, hitting a personal best of 37.325. DeZiel was second on the balance beam (9.20).
Katherine Prouty (Fr, Tigard, Ore) collected three personal bests, including a win on the vault (9.525), a third place finish on the floor exercise (9.350) and second behind DeZiel in the all-around (37.325).
Maddy Sevilla (Fr, Stillwater, Minn.) grabbed a third place finish on the balance beam, scoring a new personal-best 9.150.
Stout's other top five finishers were
Vanessa Zahratka (Jr, Lakeville, Minn.) and
Cora Bagoli (So, Nashville, Tenn.). Zahratka's personal best of 9.325 earned her fourth place in the floor exercise, while Bagoli grabbed a fifth place finish on the vault with a 9.150.
Stout's score was their highest of the season, and marks the fourth meet in a row in which they have set a new season high.
Stout celebrated Senior Night tonight, recognizing their two seniors,
Heather Harmeyer (Milwaukee) and
Karina Schaub (Lakeland, Minn.), for their four years of dedication to the program.
Stout will be at the UW-La Crosse-sponsored Gershon Invitational, Friday, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
