MENOMONIE, Wis. (January 21, 2012) - Both UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater had their lowest offensive output of the season, Saturday evening at Johnson Fieldhouse, resulting in a 56-41 Stout loss to fifth-ranked UW-Whitewater.

Despite playing without the WIAC's leading scorer, Chris Davis, the Warhawks (17-1, 8-1 WIAC) held a modest lead for much of the first half, and then broke the game open down the stretch, holding the Blue Devils (6-12, 1-8) to just 13 points in the second half.

Whitewater jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first four minutes, but Stout battled back.  A 15-6 run, fueled by seven points from Jarvis Ragland (So, Milwaukee) and six from Tim Butina (So, Woodbury, Minn.), gave the Blue Devils a one-point advantage, their only lead of the game.

The Warhawks rebounded with a 7-0 burst of their own, and finished the half with a quick four points, turning what had been a tight game into a seven point margin at the break.

Whitewater put their foot in the ground midway through the second half.  Already with a nine point lead, the Warhawks held Stout to three points in the remaining ten minutes of play.  They did not exactly pour in buckets themselves, but the defensive effort was enough to give them a comfortable lead for the remainder.

Alex Oman (So, Lake Elmo, Minn.) scored 14 points to lead the Blue Devils, while Butina added 13 on 5-of-5 shooting before fouling out.  Alex Edmunds scored 24 points for the Warhawks to lead all scorers.

Whitewater's previous scoring low was 56 points in the season opener and the Warhawks were averaging nearly 74 points per game. Stout's previous low was 50 points.

Stout stays at home this Wednesday, Jan. 25, as they will play host to UW-River Falls.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
