Stout finishes break trip with a bang

Stout 1, Messiah 0 | Stout 3, New England 2 

CLERMONT, Fla. (March 17, 2011) - UW-Stout went out with a bang on the last day of their spring break trip beating Messiah College, who was ranked eighth in the latest NFCA Top 25 poll (released March 16th), 1-0, and New England College, 3-2, Thursday at the National Training Center College Spring Games.

Stout battled it out in a defensive game against Messiah. In the sixth inning Courtney Richardson (MIltona, Minn) homered for the first and winning run of the game. Bri Conrad (Jr, South St. Paul, Minn) had two strike outs holding Messiah scoreless.

In the last game of the break, Stout went neck and neck with New England getting an early lead and after being down by one, RBI's by Sam Hastings (Fr, Waukesha) and Shanen Stainer (Fr, Menomonie) lead Stout to the win. 

Tara Kimberly (Jr, Baldwin) started the game with four strike outs and Conrad with five strike outs, got the win.

Stout is scheduled to play their first home game against UW-Stevens Point Saturday, April 2.
