CLERMONT, Fla. – The UW-Stout softball team put together a dominant day at the plate and in the circle, sweeping a pair of non-conference games Tuesday with a 9-0 win over Hartwick College in six innings and a 9-0 shutout of SUNY Morrisville.
Game 1: UW-Stout 9, Hartwick 0 (6 innings)
The Blue Devils came out swinging and never looked back, plating three runs in the opening inning and adding on throughout in a 9-0 victory.
UW-Stout tallied 11 hits in the contest, highlighted by a big day from
Stephanie Kuhn, who went 4-for-4 with three doubles and three RBI.
Payton Dolecki added two hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs, while
Donna D'Addabbo scored twice and added a triple.
The Blue Devils scored in four different innings, including a three-run sixth to put the game out of reach.
In the circle,
Jennalyn Mallmann was dominant, tossing a complete-game shutout. She scattered seven hits and allowed just one walk while keeping Hartwick off the scoreboard.
Game 2: UW-Stout 9, SUNY Morrisville 0 (5 innings)
UW-Stout continued its offensive momentum in game two, scoring nine runs on 12 hits in a run-rule victory over SUNY Morrisville.
The Blue Devils (11-5) used a balanced offensive attack and a strong showing in the circle to secure the run-rule victory, scoring in three consecutive innings to pull away.
UW-Stout broke the scoreless tie in the second inning before erupting for three runs in the third and five more in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Payton Dolecki led the offense with a three-RBI performance, highlighted by a triple, while
Sarah Wilkins added two hits and scored twice.
Stephanie Kuhn reached base three times with a hit and two walks, crossing the plate twice.
Sammy Noreen provided a spark off the bench with an RBI hit, and the Blue Devils totaled 12 hits as a team.
In the circle,
Olivia Ott was in control throughout, tossing four scoreless innings.
Sarah Wilkins pitched the fifth to secure the win.
