MENOMONIE (February 9, 2011) - UW-Stout led for much of the first half, but UW-Superior stormed back, grabbing a 75-69 win, Wednesday night at Johnson Fieldhouse.

The Blue Devils (8-14, 3-11 WIAC) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, and held that margin five minutes into the game, leading 10-4.  Superior (12-10, 4-9) closed the gap, tying the game at 12-12, but Stout went on another 6-0 run.  Stout's largest lead of the half was six points.

With 5:33 left in the first half, Brendan Bauer hit a three-pointer for the Yellowjackets to give them a two-point lead, their first lead of the game.  Overall, Superior ended the half on a 19-6 run to take a 38-31 lead into the locker room.

Stout came out in the second half and trimmed the lead down to two points, but Superior answered with an 11-2 run, including five points from Dan Culy.  Trailing by eight with six minutes to go, Eric Hostetter (Sr, Stillwater, Minn.) hit a jumper and a three on consecutive possessions, cutting the Blue Devils' deficit to just three.  However, Jake Smith put an end to that by scoring six of Superior's next nine points, giving his team a 72-61 lead with less than two minutes to go.

Hostetter ended the game with a team-high 17 points and six rebounds.  Jerrod Buchholtz (Sr, Durand) also grabbed six boards.  Smith led all players with 20 points with 13 coming in the second half.

Stout will be on the road this weekend as they travel to UW-Platteville on Saturday, Feb. 12.
